Nkuhlu Tented Camp

Nkuhlu is not a SANParks camp but a privately run camp next to the Nkuhlu picnic site. The tents are new, extremely well-equipped and we loved our stay here! The bed was super comfortable. The bathroom / dressing room area is equipped with a large shower, ample space for clothing, a separate toilet and a vanity area. There’s also a full-length mirror! The kitchenette is really well-equipped and even has a microwave oven. A gas braai is provided on the patio, as well as a gas hob inside. There’s a full-size fridge too. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Part of their turn-down service is to set the table so that it’s ready when you return from your drive - a great idea! This is an unfenced camp which we prefer - we had a hyena right on our doorstep one evening. If you want to leave your tent area after dark, an armed ranger is on hand to accompany you. It’s a self-catering camp (which we prefer) and it’s fully serviced. (There is a SANParks shop and restaurant/coffee shop at the picnic site but it closes at 16h00.) We loved it here and will be back!

The Nkuhlu picnic spot is so well situated next to the river and the addition of a luxury tented camp is a winner all around. At night you are surrounded by the beautiful sounds of the bush. As a solo traveler I did not feel unsafe. The tent is equipped with a walkie-talkie manned by an efficient ranger, Whiskey. The view is blissfull and the sunrises amazing. The tent is well laid out with luxurious fittings including an aircon, fan and mosquito net. I will be back.

This beautiful camp is located in one of the best areas of the Kruger park, right on the river and by the picnic site. The tents are very comfortable, new, very clean and those by the river, with a wonderful view. There is a kitchenette, an outdoor Weber grill, furnished terrace and a spacious bathroom. The downside is that you hear the noise from your neighbours. During our stay our neighbours on one side of the tent were quite loud at night and using flash lights all over the perimeter of the tent, which was rather disturbing.

A very comfortable tented camp in a wonderful location on the Sabie River. Our river view tent was spacious, clean and well equipped. The outside deck with braii was perfect.The team were excellent.. friendly and helpful. We certainly plan to return.

The unfenced camp makes for an umatched bush experience, with hyenas, hippo and bush buck making appearances throughout the evenings. The view over the Sabi River from the “river suite tent” we booked was absolutely incredible! The room is fully furnished with everything you need for a self-catering stay. Beautifully decorated and practically well thought through down to the finest detail - including a rechargeable light, free-standing battery, radio for communication with the team, aircon, fan and ammenities. The kitchen is equipped with a two plated gas stove, kettle for on the gas stove, fridge/freezer, an array of utensils, a microwave and ammenities (coffee, tea and milk). Also, outside on the patio, there is a gas webber. The staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive. Late in the afternoons the housekeeping ladies would not only do the usual turndowns, but also set a table in the room for dinner. On the bed you would receive a chocolate, plus a bed time story and souvenir relevant to the tale. The location of the camp/lodge is very convenient as it is situated at the Nkuhlu picnic site. Which has its own little shop and takeaway place (closes at 15:40). All in all expectations were exceeded. A stay at Nkuhlu Tented Camp is a MUST when visiting the Kruger.

The Tents were fantastic from position to decor to comfort to amenities & cooking utensils to privacy . Our view of the Sabie River and beyond was amazing . Bird life abundant, hippos grunting. To top it all we were privileged to be visited by a leopard and hyaena after dinner. After a very long drive to Kruger and all the excitement we then settled into a very snug mosquito net draped bed . Bushbuck family grazed at breakfast . The staff were very helpful and friendly . We will be back .
