La Bastide Bed and Breakfast

Marc and Elisabeth offer a great place to stay when in the Dundee wine region. Our room was beautiful, comfortable and very clean. It was one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. They are also very accommodating. And the staff are welcoming and friendly. We would go back again in a minute.

We found and chose La Bastide based on TA reviews and are very glad we did.  First, its location is great.  Not being at all familiar with the area, I didn't know how well-positioned it is for visiting top wineries.  We had just 2 full days available (plus our arrival afternoon after driving from Hood River.) We just wanted to visit a few wineries and a cheesery in the Dundee Hills, and it was very easy to do from La Bastide.  The B&B is fairly close to a highway and some warehouses, but in under 5 minutes visitors can be up in the scenic, rolling vineyard-covered hills.  We also wanted to have dinners nearby, and Dundee and Newberg were perfectly fine.  There are "destination" restaurants within 15 minutes but that wasn't our priority. More importantly, the hospitality is first-rate.  Mark spent time on the phone with me when I first phoned, because the online room calendar showed we'd need to move rooms to have a 3-night stay.  He assured me it would be no problem and it wasn't.  We left after breakfast for a day out touring and came back to find our bags on luggage racks in our new room.  Mark also gave me excellent advice on how best to use our time to have the kind of wine tasting experiences we wanted.  The place was built to be a B&B, and although the interior furnishings are elegant, there are many modern conveniences.  Each of our rooms had lamps on tables on each side of the bed, and easy to use multi-outlet "pods" to plug in cords and USB's.  These conveniences are the norm at chain hotels but can be hard to find at more charming accommodations.  One of the rooms had a king bed and the other a queen - both were fine.  One bathroom was small, with just a toilet and a nice shower; the vanity sink was near the door into the bedroom.  The other bathroom was large, with two sinks and convenient shelves for toiletries, etc.  Both of our rooms were on the front of the house and we were not aware of any road noise. The website gives details and photos of the rooms. We didn't spend much time in the rooms other than sleeping, and we'd have been content with a simple continental breakfast, but Elizabeth makes outstanding, cooked to order feasts.  Mark is friendly and attentive with coffee refills and conversation and advice. The rooms don't have refrigerators, but a communal one in the dining area serves its purpose.  Thank you, Mark and Elizabeth - we'd stay here again if we return to visit wineries in the Willamette Valley.

La Bastide is a luxurious and very comfortable place to stay. The breakfasts are delicious. The owners are very customer service oriented. We had an early morning flight and they packed us a breakfast box to take with us. It is a great location for visiting the area.

5 stars! Wonderful B&B. We stayed with a group of friends (5 rooms). They have a small gathering room which was nice, but when visiting we spent most of our time on the back patio, tasting local wines and catching up. The rooms are spacious, well appointed, with comfortable beds and real pillows! They take their breakfasts seriously. Each day a different special. They bake their own breads and muffins, which added to the meal. We loved it here, and can only sing their praises.

Great B&B with very friendly owners, great breakfasts, warm furnishings and comfortable beds. Easy and convenient access to many wineries and restaurants in Dundee. Short drive to McMinnville and about 1 hour from Portland airport. We will stay again.

LaBastide is a real gem! The inn is immaculate, the linens are soft and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed an excellent breakfast on the outside patio overlooking the garden and fountain. One of the highlights was chatting with the innkeeper, Mark. Mark is a real delight and very knowledgeable about just about everything in the area. I would definitely recommend staying here.

What a wonderful B&B! My husband and I ended our 12 day vacation in Oregon with 3 days in wine country and thought this was a great place to do it! Fabulous bed, linens, delicious breakfast and the hosts gave awesome recs for wine tasting, restaurants and were just super hospitable and knowledgable!

My husband and I had the most delightful stay at this charming bed and breakfast smack dab in the middle of the Willamette Valley wine country. They are surrounded by a plethora of excellent wineries and beautiful scenery. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby too. Our Petit Paris room was spacious, and the restroom was fabulous - practically the size of our Chicago bungalow alone! The breakfasts were excellent, and extremely generous in portion, and we dined each of our two days on the outdoor patio enjoying the neighbor's fancy chicken coupe from afar. The outdoor fountain in the center of the patio is a nice touch. There is a refrigerator you can stash your wine in to enjoy in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at La Bastide, and the owners were engaging and very helpful. We've traveled the world, and this is highly recommended.

Everything you would want in a first class BnB, from the location to the ambiance to the wonderful hosts and marvelous breakfasts. Wine and other beverages available, and the rooms were clean and neat and lovely. Mark and Elizabeth know the Valley so well and their advice for day trips was invaluable! We stayed seven nights and our winery and day trips were so accessible from Dundee. When we return we will definitely stay there again. BTW, tops on our list of ten winery visits: Domaine Serene, Archery Summit, Furioso, and Brooks. And don't miss Silver Falls State Park, Brigittine Monastery, Cannon Beach, and Multnomah Falls. Cute towns: McMinnville and Silverton.
