Residence Inn Duluth

My husband and I had a great stay here for about a week over the summer. We work remotely, and the internet worked well. We thought this was a pretty great Residence Inn, and we have stayed in many of the same brand. We didn’t have any issues with the bed so based on recent reviews, they have either gotten new ones, or we just got lucky with a good room. Everything was clean, and the staff were great. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and we have logged about five months on the road this year.

This Residence Inn is centrally located and close to many Duluth attractions and restaurants. The kitchenette was nicely appointed, although we didn't cook during our stay. The staff was very friendly, although there was no recognition of Marriott status at check-in. We enjoyed the pool and courtyard. The quality of breakfast was inconsistent. There were two crucial aspects for us: 1) The mattress . As others have said, the mattress was a bit worn; my husband didn't sleep well at all so I offered to swap sides with him on the last night. (His side was worse than mine.) 2) The number of pets. All were well behaved and quiet but for someone who is severely allergic, it was a potential problem. Most hotels limit animals to the lower floors, but here they were on all floors and in the breakfast room. Were it not for these two issues, we would have booked the Residence Inn again. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times. That said, upkeep has been getting steadily worse. My last stay (with my wife) was horrendous. The room wasn't clean, there weren't any pots or pans (thankfully we weren't planning to cook) but the real issue was the bed. This is the first time in 30 years of vacation and regular business travel that I couldn't sleep in the bed. The mattress was so worn out that and sagged so badly that you would slowly roll toward the center. My wife and I couldn't sleep as we don't like sleeping smashed together. I finally went and tried to sleep on the couch letting her take the center of the bed. Neither of us got more than a couple hours of sleep which really put a damper on our plans for the next day. Used to be a good hotel, bhut it's obvious that Marriott has decided to cut funds for maintenance and upkeep which really angers me as a loyal Marriott member. I will not be back and feel like I was ripped off.

We are a family of 3, traveling with our school age child. We look for clean, convenient, and family friendly. We stayed at this resort over the 4th of July and it was one of the only rooms we could score last minute. First time staying at any Residence Inn and we were very pleasantly surprised with this one. Location was good, pool was nice. Grounds were nice. Room was super clean and well equipped. It felt safe and comfortable. Would stay here again if in the area.

Fabulous tasting food; such a large variety to choose from on their menu. The sticky buns and cinnamon buns that are offered as a side dish with your meal are fresh from the oven and so, so good. We had only heard of Duluth Grill and finally tried it out on our last trip to Duluth from Thunder Bay this past July.....so glad we did. They have a really nice patio along the side of the building and a fire pit at the front of the building near the main entrance. Ample parking in the front, side, and rear of the establishment. We definitely will be back.

This is a conveniently located hotel a little outside of downtown Duluth. The room was very clean. There was some places where it is beginning to show its age a bit. The fireplace had a low flame, but wasn't a big deal for us. Would stay here again.

We were placed at Residence Inn by our renters insurance after our apartment flooded on September 11th. This hotel was a Godsend. Everyone working was so nice. The beds were super comfy, kitchen was so great we could make our own meals again. And the fireplace was a nice touch to make it even more home feeling. I wanted to do a special thanks to the amazing housekeeping crew! Lacy, Ashley and Amanda were wonderful! Unfortunately we didn't get to try out the hot tub of pool but we will be back to take a relaxing staycation once we are settled. Thank you again!

Not that great for a newer hotel. Many of the issues have to do with the building itself. The front door is actually kinda of hard to find when first visiting. It is down steps or awkwardly placed ramps/sidewalks that do not lend ease of use with luggage cart and sharp turn needed to make numerous times. Property and parking is built into a hillside, so hard to get to parking/doors without long walks. Room was ok, but starting to show age already. Carpet is fraying at transitions and carpet tacks poking out. Door to room showed light on bottom (due to door sweep starting to come off) and on lock side. Door needed a pull to shut completely. Not ideal. Staff was ok to deal with, mainly at breakfast. Was pleasantly surprised that whirlpool was fixed on a Sunday morning. Breakfast was bland and after 3 days of largely the same menu, it got old. No bacon :( Breakfast seating can be cumbersome given seating options that are of varying styles, sizes and table heights especially when at capacity. It would be nice to have more 4 seat tables for families.

Good location if want to stay around Duluth without the traffic; it is not lake front and need a car to go around; good parking; rooms are clean and quiet; recommend room 128; floor level ; has electric fireplace; full kitchen with microwave and oven
