Upon arriving at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Downers Grove, Illinois, I was greeted by a very friendly front desk attendant who kindly allowed me to check into my suite earlier than the scheduled time. However, during the second day of my stay, housekeeping did not remove the trash or provide fresh towels. Additionally, the toilet became clogged, and despite multiple requests—once in the morning before attending a conference and again later that evening—no one came to address the issue until much later. When a maintenance worker finally arrived, he handed me a plunger instead of resolving the problem himself, explaining that clogged toilets were a common issue due to the slow flush system. Moreover, after housekeeping eventually serviced my room, someone attempted to enter my room on two separate occasions without proper explanation, leaving me feeling uncomfortable. Upon returning home, I realized I had left my charger at the hotel. Despite multiple attempts to contact the front desk, my calls either went unanswered or I was mistakenly transferred to a guest’s room. This experience was the most disappointing I’ve had at a hotel, and I do not intend to return.
