Des Moines Marriott Downtown

This property offers a nice place to stay in downtown DM. It is on the corner and has valet & concierge service. They kind of expect everyone to valet when you arrive to check in (you can check in ahead of time, also!). There are many parking ramps just a couple of blocks away and the max is only $10 each day! Also, there is street parking with meters. If you do not have the bellhop help with your luggage, do not expect to use their dolly. Just carry your things yourself. The lobby offers a bar, the helpful staff, and plenty of places for you & your group to gather (we utilized this late at night after my son's wedding--staff is awesome about ordering pizza & bringing down your own drinks & snacks). The room was very nice & has a fridge, but no microwave. I requested one & they delivered it that night! The fitness room is AWESOME--best I've experienced with a hotel! One downfall was that they asked upon arrival if I wanted our room cleaned every day & I answered, "yes". They did not comply until I complained. They did bring us towels very quickly. This hotel was PERFECT for our needs. Would highly recommend.

Staff is very nice; beds are VERY uncomfortable! I've stayed here twice same experience! PPL slamming door all night unfortunately I could hear everything all night, so I got no rest. Hopefully they purchase new beds! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel busy, seemed to be Iron Man and Pride event – who organises these things at the same time!? Valet parking $36 per night find cheaper down the road Hotel a bit on the Brown side - 70's Mash & Marrow restaurant. Loose term as around the bar in the lobby. We sat in a quiet corner, away from everyone. Then almost got crowded out, nearly moved; an ever-increasing group that was obviously gathering, for a wedding it turns out, fourteen of them, couldn’t have got closer if they tried, not the hotels fault although maybe someone could have noticed and recited them. Good service though, nice salad, fries crinkle ok side portion big, burger good. Digital key for the room, frosted glass door on bathroom 6th floor –could still hear road noise 10 min walk from Pappajohn sculpture park.

Comfortable stay overall. There was no room upgrade, but they added my Marriott number to my reservation and assured me I would get extra points since the executive lounge was closed during my three-night stay. It linked to my Bonvoy app but then disappeared after checkout. Hopefully, it will be reflected shortly. The breakfast buffet was good, and the stay was comfortable. The hotel is a short walk from the Saturday Des Moines Farmers Market and lots of great restaurants. The staff was super friendly. I appreciated the laundry facilities, though I didn't see any soap in the market downstairs. Fortunately, there was a stall giving free samples at the Farmers Market.

Good downtown hotel in Des Moines--close to everything you would need for a downtown meeting. The hotel had some problems including a broken escalator, broken ATMs, and overpriced breakfasts/valet parking. The room itself was clean, modern, and quiet. The staff was nice and friendly. Usually when I stay with Marriott they honor my request for a high floor, but I was stuck on the eight floor while non Marriot Bonvoy members got high floor rooms. Hotel is on the Skywalk. I'm giving it four stars because of the room, but the hotel needs some work.

Marriott We stayed one night and it was enjoyable. The room was large and clean. The bed was good and the noise was minimal. Motel parking was quite expensive so I parked just a block away at a covered public lot which was substantially cheaper. The motel is on the skywalk as was the parking garage. Very convenient. Centrally located and on the skywalk for easy access to many downtown locations.

Bring ear plugs . The antiquated heating / cooling system makes loud thumps every time it turns off . There are other strange noises that randomly occur in the vents . The rooms are nice and clean and the staff are very nice , but nothing makes up for not getting sleep .

Rooms were a bit on the small size. There was not enough closet space or dressers for clothes. We only had three in the room and we had to use our suite cases to keep our clothes in. The beds were comfortable. Service on the concierge level was outstanding. The banquet meals were over priced and not worth the money we paid for them.
