Sunbright Inn

This place is outstanding! The hosts are beyond attentive and kind, the building is SO beautiful, the beds are remarkably comfortable, rooms are equipped with everything you might need for comfort and the bathroom is amazing!!! All the rooms are different, ours had a huge bathroom with a modern clawfoot tub and a huge glass shower, absolutely lovely! We had our morning coffee in the living room which is beautiful both in construction and decor, and filled with the most wonderful huge windows so flooded with light. Many of the many chandeliers are antiques and beautifully cared for so they sparkle and shine wonderfully. Other rooms have balconies and/or private sitting rooms, or other wonderful features. There is even a room with turret sitting in this wonderful old mansion that has been beautifully restored so it is modern in comfort and visually a beautiful blend of antique and modern. The parking is secure and onsite, and you are only a few blocks from the beautiful spring fed lake that gives DeFuniak Springs it's name. The downtown section is also charming with a number of restaurant options, a charming museum in the old railroad depot, and the oldest library in the state still lovingly cared for. The walk around the lake is lovely, and there are may beautifully cared for old houses to look at as you walk, as well as a fountain, places to sit, and wonderful old trees. I absolutely adored this wonderful place, and will return as many times as I can. OH! and have some rooms that are dog friendly!!!

The accommodations were excellent. Beautiful decor in each room. Our bed was so comfortable. Owners were so pleasant and helpful. Was decorated for the holiday, beautifully. Very Victorian mansion style. Our room was very comfortable.

Sunbright Inn is a masterful renovation. Every minute detail was considered. It’s gorgeous. However, while staying, the inn was not satisfactory on several levels. Pluses: the owner is very responsive and responds by text right away. The drinkware is glass, not plastic. The fridge/freezer in room combo was handy. What didn’t work for me and I thought others might want to know: Overwhelming scent. Plug in air fresheners and all linens (sheets, blankets, towels) washed in scented products. (Gave me a headache) Parlor furniture was historically accurate, thus sized for people 5 ft or under. Very low and thus not comfortable for hanging out. The mattress on the bed in Magnolia was so tall - up to my waist - and I struggled so hard to actually get on the bed that I nearly slept on the floor. Could have used a step to help those of us who aren’t athletic. Finally, after driving all day, I hopped in big beautiful shower to unwind and found the water tepid, never hot. Disappointing. There’s real pressure to “tip” even with substantial room rates. I feel this is driven by the costs of renovation, but it was off-putting. Overall, not the review I thought I’d leave. :-(
