Holiday Inn Grand Rapids - South

Great spot and would come again!!! These guys are amazing and would highly recommend coming here to stay if you are in Grand Rapids. Staff was super friendly and super kind!!!!!! Only great things to say and will definitely be coming back next time we come through this part of town!

Poorly managed hotel with rude customer service and dated and unmaintained rooms and amenities. The hotel staff are confused and then rude when questioned. We booked two rooms, one of the rooms had a toilet that wouldn’t flush. We asked the front desk for a new room or a refund and they were resistant to either. They ultimately moved us to another room but we had to really push for a working toilet. The splash pad was fun for the kids but was dirty, rundown, and partially closed. Most of the wear and tear of a hotel I can overlook if the facilities are clean and the service is friendly. However, the rude service provided to my family and I was unacceptable. I highly recommend going to a different splash pad or hotel.

Brought the kids for a day at the splash pad and pool. Only $15.00/ person and the kids -ages 4-14, all loved it! There’s a 6-8 inch pool with buckets dumping water and a slide, a toddler splash pad, an pool and hot tub. Front desk staff were very courteous.

This hotel was recommended to us because of the pool facilities. The pool was “ok”. The room was a huge disappointment. We paid almost $400 for the suite because we are a large family of 6. When we turned on the bathroom exhaust fan it reeked of ****, the floor needed vacuuming, there was cereal and other debris on the floor. There were twin beds in the loft area, one of which was cracked and broken on the side. They had old, thin, cartoon character sheets on the beds that did not fit the mattress and there were no blankets. There were stains and splatters on the walls, doors and carpets. Some of the furniture was chipping and there was wallpaper peeling from the walls. The biggest concern was a window with a broken latch/lock, a screen that was bent and coming apart from the window and our room was on the 4th floor. We reported some of this to the desk. They did come to vacuum the room but offered nothing else. We will be contacting corporate with our concerns.

The rooms are improved, but they have not yet caught up with the bathrooms. I like to choose a hotel that has a hot tub because I can, and I love hot tubs and they relax me every day after a hard day. This hotel has a kids zoo of a pool area but the hot tub was nice. I didn't get to the breakfast as I had to leave for work before 6AM. I was disappointed when I asked the bar for a glass I could use, and Gary said, "we can't do that", which I find ridiculous. I am a platinum elite member of the IHG rewards club and thought, really? I will not return to this site. Overall, it may be OK for you especially if you have a pack of kids that need entertaining. The property needs more work for sure. I remember staying here some 20 years ago and it was nice back then.

Worst holiday inn I ever visited in my life!! Hot water in room never worked complained three times and each time worker blamed it on broiler with no solution! Manager tried to explain that I didn’t know how to turn knob (hot and cold like any other knob) someone did number 2 in pool area worked just came in and wiped it up with pool towel no bleach or nothing! Hot tub dirty pool cloudy! Hotel dirty and unkept, workers lazy and don’t care about nothing! Looked like black mold on hot tub

Paid for 4 day passes to use the pool. Pool was so cold you couldn't go in it. Hot tub was dirty. Very foamy and along the edges it was brown from grime on the tile. Area around splash pad and kiddie pool was dirty. Saw trash on the floor and an artificial fingernail. UGH, definitely not worth the $60.00.

I stayed at this hotel over Thanksgiving while visiting family. My stay was supposed to be free thanks to IHG reward certificates. However, I was actually charged money for my stay, not once but twice. I have talked to the hotel numerous times over the last month and a half trying to resolve this issue and receive a refund for these erroneous charges. I happened to be in town today visiting family again, and even stopped by the hotel in person trying to resolve the issue. The staff were still incapable of resolving the issue. The staff acknowledge the issue, but seem incapable of resolving it. I do not leave reviews for hotels generally, but I have had such a terrible customer service experience with this hotel I felt compelled to. I cannot recommend that anyone stay here until the hotel figures out how to serve their guests better and bill them correctly.

I was going to give this a 3 star but I can’t even give it that. Most of the kid area of the pool is closed and at time of booking it was open. No updates saying that it was closed were given/ not even check in. Was going to leave 3 stars because the rooms were clean and comfy and at least part of the pool area was open. However, went to use the shower and there’s hair on the wall and in the tub. Went to put my kid to sleep and we didn’t have bedding on the pull out couch. There was only one lady working (do better holiday inn) and she did bring some to us. There were kids and adults running around the halls screaming until 12:30. At about 2:00am a bunch of adults decided to party in the parking lot. Swearing, yelling, loud music. Tried to get a hold of someone at the front desk and no one answered. Kid can’t sleep, I can’t sleep. I wish I never came this is ridiculous. Would never recommend this to anyone.
