Always enjoy staying at the Holiday inn countryside.

First of all, this hotel was picked because of the restaurant that is attached. According to the website, the restaurant opens at 4, and still states that today! The restaurant is closed (permantly), the pool wasn't open, and no breakfast, despite the bright and cheery sign in the elevator of a that states "Sit. Stay. Eat. Drink. Join us for your next meal at our full service restaurant." Very misleading and the hotel itself really doesn't care. Front desk clerk not pleasant.

There is loud music and kids screaming. ***! Worst experience ever. Not highly recommended. Place to get a good night sleep. What kind of place is this. I’m on a business trip and I need to get some sleep. They didn’t tell me an even was going on.

Do NOT book a room here. Booking scammer called Room 77 posed as the hotel, added multiple charges as well as an unwanted "free" trial membership to Global Privileges. Room nonrefundable unless you paid an additional $30+. Even if you avoid the online and phone reservation scammers and actually get IHG reservations they still will charge you for one night if you choose to cancel. Either way, you lose. Pool closed 9/2023 due to high levels of bacteria and no notice on website. Fitness room closed and no notice on website Most elevators not working and no notice on website. Pleasantview fire protection out of service and no notice on website. After checking in, had to go to 3 rooms on 3 separate floors to find one with a working phone, tv, and heating/cooling unit. Final room- no working bathroom light unless breaker repeatedly pressed. Room card not working well. Coffee maker not working. BEDBUGS and many bug bites. Lived in La Grange for many years and have very fond memories of a very nice hotel at one time. Shame on you IHG.

This is a nice enough hotel. Some positives, some negatives. The rooms themselves are nicely furnished and paper to have been updated recently. King suites are significantly larger but are as bright…same light set up as the standard room. It appears that some of the maintenance issues noted in other reviews are being addressed but there are still things that are pretty obvious. Pool and fitness center are still closed. Hotel ran out of coffee pods…3 days ago. Maybe they ran out of shower gel too, ran out of that too and hasn’t been replaced/ filled even after letting the front desk know. Bright spot was a really nice member of the housekeeping crew found a couple of pods for me on the second day of no coffee…above and beyond. I would come back because it’s a good value and the rooms are nice with the expectation that more of the maintenance and operating issues are addressed

Booked for the pool and cleanliness remembered from years ago. Mistake. Pool is closed, has been since Sept 2023,no communication until we got there, shut down by the Dept of Heath in Sept of 2023for unsafe bacteria levels. Thin walled room was loud,awakened by loud converations outside of room at 5.30am. Carpet smelled like an old shoe. No toiletries, except communal ones...just ick, really?If that is 'going green", well I sure went green at that thought.The elevator squealed the entire stay every few minutes while supposedly beating itself to death? Not sure. Kids got real great at imitating the sound.Food spoiled in non working fridge overnight. Time to find a new place. It's a shame. And I don't even mind if the decor of a room is "outdated" .....however, clean and quiet would be nice, plus tell people if you no longer are operating a pool. And for Gd sakes, provide some soap.

Stayed here for a class reunion. The room was nice and appeared to have been recently updated with walk-in shower. As for the rest...there are three elevators for the hotel but only one was working. Our room key stopped working on the second day and had to have it reprogrammed (as did a number of other people). Maybe only two luggage carts, so always waiting (some people don't return the cart when they are done). WE were never informed that they would only make up the room on request and we had requested too late. Had used our towels to mop up wet floor (seal on shower door leaking), but we were too late for room service. They handed us new towels at the desk. As for dining & drinking - the Jamesone's restaurant and bar were the only in-hotel option and not operated by the hotel. The bar opened at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and closed at 10:00. The breakfast was a $15 self-serve "buffet" of the same food we get at Holiday Inn Express for free. Did have an evening meal, but nothing special. This hotel has been here for a while (over 25 years) and is in need of updating and repairs.

Lt me start out by saying I do not like writing bad reviews but I feel I need to share my experience with this hotel. My husband and I were returning from Dublin and the air travel through the whole trip was a nightmare. The previous day we had been cancelled and re-routed. I made this reservation right before I boarded the flight to Chicago in Newark using the app. The cost was $196.00 for one night. We just wanted a place to stop after we got through the airport, got our luggage and car. We would have a 5-hour drive home and we knew we would be too tired to be safe on the road. My credit card company informed me the payment was approved before I ever got there. OK. When we got there we were past exhausted. We got to the hotel but nearly passed it because the sign was not lit. I almost thought the place was closed. We went to check in. Going into the lobby there is a weird guy hanging out in the lobby and it smells like stale cigarettes very strongly. The young man at the front desk checks us in. He greets me as an IHG member and wants to tell me about the restaurant however it is closed so we can't get anything to eat. He then tells me he needs my credit card for the $100.00 security deposit for any damages to the room. I explained the room has already been paid per my credit card company. I get the cards for our room however I had to walk back to the desk after trying to open the door to our room. At that point the weird guy is mocking me. At that point I really questioned what have I gotten us into as far as situation. Did not exactly feel safe. I took the key cards back and they worked the second time. The room was pretty large, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was OK. there was some mystery stain on the ceiling, I don't want to know. We were up and out early before we could get any breakfast in the restaurant. As I turned in the key cards I brought up the $100.00 security deposit and the two women at the front desk assured me that is just their standard operating procedure and my credit card company should remove it in 5 to 7 working days. Yep, won't do that again.
