Hampton Inn Columbus-North

I was in town to celebrate my son's graduation from AIT at Ft. Moore, and the Hampton was a great place to retreat and rest.

First, I must say that all the staff members I encountered were extremely courteous: Vanesia, Samuel, and another young lady at check-in, pregnant with her arm in a sling; thank you for exhibiting such excellent customer service. Then, the rooms were okay, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention how disappointed I was that there was no toilet paper holder in the bathroom. The roll of toilet paper was just sitting on top of the tank!!! That was my first time in a hotel without a toilet paper holder, and I hope I never encounter that again. Finally, the pillows were very short. Thankfully, they did not flatten too quickly, but standard-size pillows would have been better. I was told the rooms had been renovated. If the room I stayed in was renovated, management should seriously consider returning to complete the rooms.

When we opened the door to our room were hit with heat and the smell of dogs. We paid an up charge for our dogs who were clean and smelled good from their weekly bath. *It smelled like the carpets and bedding weren’t clean. *The air conditioner didn’t work. *There was only one air vent in the room. *There was water damage on the wall opposite the bathroom - looked moldy. I will not stay here again.

I have stayed at this Hampton Inn many times over the past year when in Columbus to visit my daughter and son-in-law. From the very beginning it felt like coming home. The staff is incredibly welcoming! The highlight of each day is seeing Eugenia, who provides the breakfast. I can always count on a big hug from her. The rooms are always very clean - something that I value. The mattresses are oh-so-comfortable as are the pillows - fluffy towels as well! The location is perfect to walk into the shopping area (about a mile and a half) yet I hear very little noise in the rooms. There is a McDonalds and a gas station just steps away. And they have a Peloton bike in their fitness center. Unlike some other hotels I have stayed at, they actually have it hooked up so I can get my regular work out in while staying at the hotel. But the main attraction is the staff. They are like family to each other, and they strive to include their guests into their family - not just me, I've seen them with other guests who get this same wonderful treatment. The only critique I could give is about the building - I think Hilton would do well to give a face lift to the hotel. I won't avoid the hotel if they don't, but a renovation would give it a fresh look. This Hampton Inn is one of the best hotels I have ever had to pleasure to stay in - whether you are passing through or staying for a few days like me it is a great fit.

1- Carpet was so filthy I could not even walk on it without shoes. Got towels and made a path bthrm to desk to bed. 2- the jetted tub was so filthy, I know some was just from being old but later looked at jets and they were nasty, shower leaked and the puddle was full of not sure what. Was not comfortable enough to use it. 3- they had a pipe burst and flood some 5th room floors early in evening my 2nd night. They thought it would be a good idea to put a VERY LOUD drying fan outside my 2nd floor door at 11:30 at night. I guess the flood went down the walls and got carpet wet on all floors and they had to dry to prevent smell. 4-3rd night it did not work whole floor smelled nasty when got back to room. Was promised extra points for the inconvenience, but they usually do not follow through unless you chase it. Was so disappointed as I trust them when traveling. DO NOT USE THIS HOTEL UNTIL RENOVATIONS ARE COMPLETED. They are scheduled for this next year. I have to go back next month and will definitely pick a different hotel.

Our room was clean with plenty of towels, washcloths, and coffee. Breakfast was good especially the waffles. Staff is friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again. The desk clerk told us that it is scheduled for renovation.

Pros: The front desk staff and Eugenia Hangan. Cons: Everything else. The rooms are very outdated and worn. There were stains on the bed skirt, a toilet seat that looked dirty (it wasn't, I don't think, just old), dated lighting and the shower pressure was awful. I was scheduled to stay 2 nights but only stayed one and moved to the Holiday Inn Express across the street. That hotel was 10 times better than the Hampton Inn.

Despite having a large crowd due to a state tennis tournament in Columbus, they were able to handle the check-ins and subsequent crowds at breakfast. We were in town for a reunion and they were very helpful.

This property is showing it's age and is several years past the time for a remodel/update. Beds were comfortable, but carpet felt gross. Breakfast was minimal, as has seemed the case with Hampton Inns lately. Staff were very helpful, efficient and friendly.
