The Victory at Mersea

INCREDIBLE!!! from check in to checkout all our needs and wants were fulfilled! Considering our booking was last minute for me and my children, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The atmosphere was amazing, such a beautiful venue (especially At night with the garden lights on) I felt as though I was a million miles away. Big thanks to the General manager , James and his assistant, Nicole. The most welcoming duo. Thanks so much to the victory at Mersea for showing us how to Care for their guests, it’s gone a long way. Have already booked to comeback in the October half term. Guys if your in mersea you must pay this place a visit. I’m not one for reviews but this place went to levels I’ve never seen this day and age in hospitality. Kind regards Mr Sampson Room 5

Already left a review. Food is good but couldn't eat it when someone lit a cigarette next to me once dinner came out I can understand why they are trying to ban this. All the staff wanted to do was take my plate away and I guess my dinner went in the bin £18 or so for burger and chips. And I didn't even get to eat it

Tatty , needs a paint loads of old benches outside , not even that busy and the sandwich I ordered came in stale bread ! If you can’t get that right give up ! £24.50 for sandwich with fries d coke and half shandy ! Avoid !!!!!, so many better places to eat , this pub used to be packed and excellent years ago I wouldn’t even give it 1 star now

Stayed for one Saturday night, nice welcome, shown to room one, which is huge. Large comfortable bed, and two comfy armchairs, the big bay window overlooked the estuary. The room was spotlessly clean, lovely bathroom with separate bath and shower, good toiletries and nice tea-tray. The Pub was very busy when we arrived, but by the time we returned just before midnight, it was very quiet. Breakfast the next morning was really good. Huge portions nice coffee.

We were very disappointed with our room, the only one with twin beds. The beds were made with wooden slats and the mattresses very soft so you could feel the slats underneath the mattress. The shower was only a trickle of water, we stayed 2 nights and no room service, i.e. topping up tea tray, no washing of cups and no bed making. The toilet pan needed replacing; the bathroom looked fresh but not the toilet pan which was old and badly stained. We always had a job to open/unlock the front door which needed attention. Breakfast was nice, but evening food was expensive, i.e. 2 cod and chips and 2 glasses of wine over £48. All bar drinks expensive. Would not stay here again. Avoid twin room no.10.

Went in for a meal and after waiting 15 mins and still no service, decided not to continue at the place. 3 times staff walked past us without offering or speaking to us for our order. I would therefor not recognise this place if you are wanting to sit down for a meal.

Stayed here over the weekend 19th -22nd July for a wedding at east Mersea hall. Couldn’t ask for better service, special thanks to Nicole, Ellis and Karen for making everything run smoothly and being on hand to help. Rooms were lovely and clean, we hired out the captains lounge for a private family meal the night before the wedding. Delicious food and great service. Would absolutely recommend staying here.

Very disappointed we stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and 4 days - the rooms were not cleaned on any of the days we stayed, no room service and no one to ask if we needed anything changed. Loud music played by the bar until almost midnight so if you’re going for a peaceful evening looking out onto the harbour then forget it, really inconsiderate bar management who was present throughout the whole saga. Breakfast a disaster until the last day when the only friendly face actually rectified some of the experience and was able to actually make a scrambled egg which was not cooked to within an inch of its life. The only good thing was that the rooms were nice . But if you pay hotel prices you expect hotel service, experience and catering.

Great location and beer garden..Don’t eat here though.The starter came up with the main course because they were too busy to separate courses.Can you mess up basic pub food ? Yes you can.The food made a Wetherspoons look lMichelin star. Give it a miss.
