Wir verbrachten 9 Tage in einer Jungle Villa und hatten einen eigenen Butler - Ramadan - ein wahre Perle an Mensch. Ramadan war stets für uns da, umsorgte uns bei jeder Mahlzeit und half uns bei jeder Herausforderung, die die Villa bot (z.B. gebrochener Sonnenschirm, Wasseraustritt aus der Dusche). Sein liebevoller und respektvoller Umgang mit uns, trug sehr dazu bei, dass wir uns in diesem Resort sehr wohl und willkommen fühlten. Auch das restliche Servicepersonal - angefangen vom Housekeeping bis zum Restaurant- und Barpersonal - war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Resort ist eingebettet in eine wunderschöne Gartenanlage mit idyllischen Liegeplätzen und ausreichend Platz für alle Gäste. Nicht zu verschweigen ist jedoch, dass diverse Renovierungen erforderlich sind. Zu erwähnen wäre dabei der unfertige Steg von unserer Villa sowie der gesperrte Hauptsteg zum Meer, die Holzeinfassung des Jacuzzi, Erneuerung von Liegeauflagen.

Wir waren ein paar Tagen im Residence Hotel im Süden von Sansibar und fühlten uns hier richtig wohl. Die Pool Villas sind richtig groß, modern und haben Tv, Außendusche, Badewanne, Safe, Klimaanlage, Minibar und als Highlight den privaten Außenpool. Es gibt auch einen großen Pool mit Glaswand für alle. Sehr cool. Die ganze Crew hier ist total freundlich, es gibt keine Strandverkäufer, außer ein paar Jungs, die Touren anbieten. Das Hotel ist sehr ruhig, optimal zum Entspannen. Das Essen ist super, Mittags a la Card, abends wechselndes Themen Buffet mit Musik. Auf dem Gelände tummeln sich viele Affen, die einem auf der Terrasse schon mal den letzten Nerv rauben können. Auch sollte man sämtliche Türen verriegeln, die Affen sind schlau. Ein schöner tropischer Garten gehört zur Anlage. Das Hotel ist etwas abgelegen, keine Einkaufsmöglichkeit und die Zufahrtsstraße momentan eine absolute Katastrophe, ist aber im Bau. Entfernung nach Stonetown ca 11/4 Stunde. Jozani ca 30 Minuten. Airport ca 11/2 Stunden

Positives: -The staff were very friendly and have great potential if trained properly. They always went out of their way to help. -The staff organized a great birthday surprise in our room and were quick to set it up. -Resort location was lovely. -Resort furniture / design was nice. -Great communication with hotel booking staff, prior to our arrival via ***********. Negatives: Overall Kwanza Resort by SUNRISE needs to provide full 5 star, ongoing training for all staff and adjust its pricing - in terms of value other guests (who we spoke with) and ourselves confirmed that prices were doubled with no value to justify the high prices (e.g the very basic spa was 100 USD for a 1 hour massage, a cocktail was 16 USD using a low quality alcohol spirit (‘King Robert’ used for most spirits which tasted like it had been brewed in a bath tub) where a whole bottle can be bought for 8 USD in Zanzibar shops). We’re glad we didn’t go full board as the full board buffet was limited for the price (90 USD per person per day including kids) on offer. Also a few other points the resort needs to address: 1. Change and mix up the resort music playlist, after 6 days of 24 songs from an 80s/90s power Ballard cover CD, it gets very monotonous (it must drive your staff mad). Local African radio would be nice to listen to. 2. Have individual sound systems for each bar / venue - playing the same music across the entire resort is lazy and monotonous for guests. 3. Adjust your doubled up pricing across the resort (e.g a tour from your resort, offered by your team to Jozani Forest a spice / coffee plantation / cave was offered to us for 250 USD, however we went with a local guide / taxi driver for 50 USD) there’s no need for your doubled up prices, it’s almost extortion. 4. Train your staff properly - they are all lovely people and deserve better from the management and owners. 5. Sort the breakfast buffet / full board buffet, as there were constant flies and birds attacking the food - some dishes had so many flies on it, it made my stomach turn. Your guests could get very sick. 6. Fix the hotel app - it had so many bugs within the app we couldn’t order any food from it and had a terrible user experience. 7. Train your concierge / trip organizers / activity promoters to be more hospitable - they just seemed to be there to hustle and make money which was very obvious. One promoter ‘told me off‘ as we didn’t attend an over priced spa booking and insisted we had to pay as soon as possible to secure the booking - strange and inhospitable behavior. 8. If you’re going to charge 16 USD for a cocktail, use international premium spirits and train your bartenders properly. 9. Get the other restaurants functional, the Japanese and Cave restaurants were out of action - all meals (even with great weather) were served from the main buffet restaurant. 10. Communicate daily resort activities better. 11. Ensure your kitchen is fully stocked at all times if items are on the menu. My girl
