This place SHOULD be amazing. Beautiful setting, pool, views. Love the ferry to the Cay beach. But man, there is SO much wrong here, primarily poor service and management. This list is long: We were given the wrong room, a smaller, cheaper room for 2 people when I booked a deluxe room for 3. When I told them, they insisted I had the right room but would “do me a favor” and move me into a bigger room (which was the room I actually booked. I mean, it’s in the pictures). Not enough bath towels, no hand towels. When asked for towels they said “maybe” and didn’t bring them. We rarely got maid service. No hot water. Lukewarm showers. The worst part is that there are 4 businesses here, a main reason we booked the place. And they are all AWFUL with atrocious service. The Mexican restaurant blasts music (which is kind of expected, at a resort restaurant) but here’s the thing - YOU CANT ACTUALLY GET A DRINK FROM THEM. So you suffer through this loud music all day, from the pool; from the balcony, but you can’t get drinks or food brought to you. We had the most appalling dinner experience there ever where we waited 70 minutes for food, were served cold, congealed food and then the manager wouldn’t apologize. The tiki bar has 1 bartender serving 30 people on Valentine’s Day. Unfriendly, good luck getting a drink, gross food. The coffee place served freezer burned muffins. So here you are, wanting to hang by the pool and you can’t get a towel, drink, or food - you wander the town trying to find something to bring back, forced to listen to blasting, crappy reggae music. $500 a night. Beautiful place with staff and management who couldn’t care less.

We arrived for our one night stay at 2:53PM. When I walked in, said “hello how are you” and asked if she could see if our rooms were ready, I was not greeted with a smile, a welcome or a “hi how can I help you”. Instead, the greeting was “do you need something?” When I asked if we could check in, I was told immediately “No wait outside and come back at 3” (less than 10 minutes). 10 minutes later, I returned and one room was ready, one was not… couldn’t she have mentioned this 10 minutes before? Anyway, the service didn’t get better from there… very rude front desk. I’m not sure if she was just having a bad day or what but my group was treated very poorly and we’re not sure why. Later we asked about late checkout and were told that a late checkout costs a full night stay $350 (online it says $100). Another couple we were traveling with received a late checkout for free so we ended up hanging/showering in their room the next day since we had a later flight. Two stars for the beautiful hotel and nice location, but very poor customer service.

We traveled from Midwest United States to STX for a quick get away without our kids. St. Croix felt tropical & remote... just the break we needed from our busy lives back home. We stayed 2 nights at King Christian Hotel. The hotel has been recently remodeled with aesthetically pleasing decor donning chic, vintage, & modern vibes. I, personally, loved all the tropical colors & ornate tiled flooring giving the hotel a very boutique feel. The front desk staff welcomed us warmly with complimentary rum punch cocktails at check-in. The pool was clean & refreshing and conveniently opens up to the bar at El Leon should you like to enjoy cocktails by the pool. Every morning, the housekeeping staff paused to greet us "good morning" & wished us well on our daily adventures. We took advantage of the hotel being located right on the Christiansted Boardwalk. The boardwalk overlooks the Christiansted Harbor with close proximity of many restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, & historical sites all within walking distance of the hotel. Adjacent to King Christian is El Leon restaurant, where you can enjoy scratch-made meals prepared with fresh ingredients. Breakers Roar Tiki Bar, also attached to the hotel, offers craft cocktails served in unique Tiki inspired vessels. We visited the Tiki bar 2x while staying at King Christian with Saturday night being our favorite bar experience listening to Caribbean style Karaoke with DJ DeeDee. Visit the Tiki Bar early for Happy Hour drink special! A few things to know before your visit: The hotel doesn't offer parking; however, there is free parking just a couple blocks away (the front desk can direct you where to park). You can temporaily park right outside the hotel entrance to unload your bags while the front desk will hold them upon your return from parking your car. There is a water ferry you can board right outside the hotel that runs about every 15-30min shuttling guests to The Hotel on the Cay. From the Boardwalk, you can see The Hotel on the Cay located on a small island in the Christiansted harbor. The hotel has a restaurant/bar & beach you can enjoy. We were told you can get good food, drinks, & listen to live music on Sundays. This is a great place to watch the sunset while staying in Christiansted! Outside of the Boardwalk area, Christiansted is a bit depressed & worn down after taking a beating from back to back hurricanes Irma & Maria years ago. We felt safe walking around town during the day, but we stayed close to the hotel & Boardwalk at night as there are dark alleyways & vacant storefronts around town. St. Croix is not known for "glitz & glamor", but if you're into history, Danish architecture, touring old sugar mills, Cruzan Rum, scuba/snorkeling a national reef, & plenty of adventure, then plan a trip to STX! If you are looking for 5 star resort accommodations & commercialized amenities, then you may want to venture to a different island other than St. Croix. We had a fabulou

My wife and I arrived at this hotel around midnight the first day of our stay. Exhausted we went straight to bed. As we walked in the door we did notice a musty smell and being a GC I knew it was mold. We woke up the next morning to bugs all over the floor of our room. I looked up inside the AC unit and sure enough there was the presence of mold. The staff didn't do anything about it. The pool was closed 2 out of the 5 days we were there. Breakers Roar tiki bar closed. Mexican restaurant that was supposed to be open for lunch. closed. The coffee place this hotel owns, the staff is incredibly rude. I tried to tip the girl one time and laid money down and coughed and said excuse me and made me put the money in her hands then rolled her eyes and put it in the jar. Mind you this is our 10 year anniversary trip. Upon checkout I paid what was supposed to be my balance less the $500 deposit they took weeks prior and when I looked at my AMEX. When I looked yesterday I had the deposit charge from weeks ago and two more charges from the 25th one of the total stay $1,300 and then they were in the process of charging me another $500 that was pending. I contacted the hotel and they said they would refund me $500 but they're obviously hitting me for another $500 as we speak. When I addressed this, I got no response. This is predatory billing and fraud. Just because they need a CC for a hotel stay doesn't give them the permission to charge it randomly and at will. You can't stay here it's going to be the worst week or days of your life. I'm still fighting to get my money back. If you have deposits rethink your stay, cancel them. The elevator doesn't work and we had to lug all our luggage up 3 flights of stairs. The pictures online, the Insta is pretty. The experience is not. You literally cannot stay here. Off to go dispute charges due to predatory billing. Bring bug spray if you choose to stay and damp rid and bottle of Clorox.

If, like me, you like to drink water when you get hot, then this is not the hotel for you. If, like me, you like to have a cup of coffee when you wake up in the morning, then this is not the hotel for you. If, like me, you like to sit on your balcony at the end of the day and have a drink, then this is not the place for you. The hotel tells you not to drink the water. Two bottles are provided in your mini fridge, but when I went down to the front desk on my second night and asked for more, I was told the hotel provides two free bottles upon arrival. After that you have to buy it. BUT, they don't sell water at the front desk. I told her that I needed to take my meds in the morning, and she just shrugged. I ended up going in to the bar at El Leon and told the bartender my sad tale. She gave me two bottles of water and charged me 4$ each. The room has an ice bucket, but no glasses. No coffee maker. When we arrived at 3 pm, our room was not ready. The front desk called the maid and asked her to hurry up and finish it. Unfortunately, she didn't change the towels and when I finished showering the next morning, my towel had makeup on it. The elevator was not working all the while we were there so dragging your suitcase up two to three flights can be tricky. During the day, some sort of construction was going on and a very loud machine (generator?) ran from early morning until end of work day. It made it hard to relax around the pool. Location is excellent, rooms are beautiful, view from the balcony is incredible, but everything else was very disappointing considering the price we paid. Would we go back? Nope.

Hotel was in a perfect location although finding nearby parking was a nightmare (not exclusive to this hotel). Staff was friendly, pool was beautiful, and the food connected to and nearby was outstanding. I would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel, we had a room overlooking the bay, Great sunsets from our balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful. If we return to St Croix, this will definitely be the place we will stay at again.

It pains me to write a negative review of such an aesthetically pleasing hotel- but my two nights at King Christian are two I'd like back! The rooms are lovely, but ours had a dirty floor (with bugs and hair) and toothpaste on the bathroom mirror from prior guests. Only after showering our first day did we also realize that our bath towels were covered in hair and makeup and had not been replaced after previous guests. We were understandably grossed out, and placed all towels on the floor and they were replaced by housekeeping- but the floors and mirrors were still dirty. The most egregious error came in the form of potable water, we asked the front desk if we could drink water from the tap and they did not recommend it- they said that we could get complimentary bottled water whenever necessary and with heat indices of 105-110, that was frequently. This evening, we were informed that we were limited to one bottle each and required to walk around town to find a place to purchase more. This hotel is absolutely instagram worthy- but that's it. Rooms have no coffee makers, no glassware, no vanity storage or hanging space for wet swimwear, loud construction destroyed the pool ambiance, and constant mechanical work on the elevator provided behind the scenes realness we didn't desire. As an annual visitor to STX since my youth, I'd very much looked forward to staying at this beautiful property, but this place does not live up to the hype- rent a car and stay east or west- but save your money and avoid this property.

The rooms were great (the pillows and mattress were heavenly) the design is clean and modern. The ferry across the harbor to the beach is free now and we spent a bit of time there almost every day. We had never been to the island and had no idea where we should stay but 💯 feel that we made the correct choice!!
