Kamesei Ryokan

酒店老闆和老闆娘親切友善，服務優秀，餐食與温泉湯池都不錯，提供户倉站至酒店的免費接送服務，酒店為木結構建築，有歷史感，設施有點老舊，但足敷使用，離酒店不遠的千曲川很漂亮，特別是落日前後。

料理が悪い、創作和食らしいが見栄えばかりを意識して美味しくない。自然な漬物や郷土料理で良いので美味しいものが良い

We stayed here for 4 nights in October 2024 and absolutely loved it. The accommodation is beautiful and clean. We used the private family onsen every night which was readily available every day for us to book a slot. It’s outside and was so relaxing and peaceful. We only had the breakfast here which was a traditional ryokan style breakfast. There are some lovely small, local places to eat in the area as well. We did a bike tour with Tyler on one of our days which we absolutely loved. He took us around the local town to areas we wouldn’t have normally seen otherwise. Tyler was so informative and it was so interesting. The locals were so friendly. We also visited Nagano and Zenkoji temple and Togakushi shrine and ninja village. Would recommend both of these day trips. Especially Togakushi which was beautiful and ninja village was so much fun. Would highly recommend staying at Kamesei ryokan. Tyler and his wife were so helpful and will assist with any queries you have and getting you to the train station and back. Thank you for having us!

Stayed 2 nights and the first night was magical. Initially we thought about exploring more with our car after checking in but wisely settled into the total experience of a traditional Ryokan experience. It was such a treat! We suited up in traditional gown and were persuaded by Tyler to slide into wooden sandals. Tyler introduced us to his neighbor who was a proud descendant of Samurai. Clogging through town we found the public onsen foot baths and luxuriously soaked in the extravagant warmth. Upon our return we experienced a delightful traditional dinner but with a vegetarian twist. It was incredible . So was the breakfast the next day! Thank you Tyler and Mari for all of the personal attention and suggestions! The icing on the cake were all the snow monkeys not too far from the inn. Don’t hesitate to book your stay!

Our family of five, spanning three generations, had a truly wonderful stay at this charming ryokan hosted by the warm and welcoming Tyler and Mari-san. From the moment we arrived, we felt at home thanks to their genuine hospitality. Tyler and Mari-san shared invaluable information about the town and local attractions, making it easy for us to plan our days. A lovely, personalized touch was seeing our name displayed outside the ryokan—such a thoughtful welcome! The meals were nothing short of spectacular. The traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner were a culinary delight, filled with exquisite and beautifully presented dishes. We especially loved the walking tour Tyler-san led through the Kamiyamada Onsen town. It was an unique experience getting to meet local shop owners, sample delicious treats like green tea and manju, and learn about the area’s history and culture. Every morning, Tyler-san generously drove us to Togura Station, making our outings stress-free. On our final evening, which happened to be a Sunday, the ryokan was bustling with families, and Tyler-san hosted a popcorn party that thrilled the kids—a perfect end to our stay. Thank you to Tyler and Mari-san for making our visit so memorable and comfortable. We look forward to returning to this cozy haven for more unforgettable memories!

This was a wonderful pause to relax during a busy month-long visit around Japan! I had both breakfast and dinner for the two nights of my stay and the food was excellent every meal with lots of new flavors to try. And then I went to the onsen full and sleepy :)
