We stayed at Lythe Hill for our second wedding anniversary and well, it was simply beautiful. As an IHG member I booked through the app, I got members discount which is always a bonus. We arrived at the hotel later than planned due to traffic but the staff were nothing but helpful and sympathetic. We had missed our dinner booking at the restaurant but it was swiftly rearranged making us instantly more relaxed. We had been upgraded to a suite which was a lovely touch. The room was nice and spacious, it had everything we needed. It's a bit of a shame that it didn't have a bath as we both love a bath and there should have been space for one really but we didn't want to complain. The room was clean and modern but without taking away from the hotels character. We ate at the onsite restaurant and the food was good, we only had a main course but it was delicious. Unfortunately half the wines on the wine list had been substituted or simply wasn't available. This needs looking at I feel as paying £50 for a bottle of wine for it not to be what you were expecting isn't ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful and I feel this issue was beyond them. Although the service was good I personally felt the mandatory 12.5% service charge was a little steep. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice, coffee was okay, pastries, fresh fruit and a selection of cooked options available. Staff for breakfast weren't so great. Still friendly but very disorganised or possibly just under staffed, they were running about but nobody seemd to have a specific role, we had to order our cooked breakfast while the gentleman had hands full of dishes as we'd waited 10+ minutes trying to get the attention of anyone at all and we had waited 10+ minutes to be seated and the restaurant was about 2 thirds empty. We had free access to the spa until 2pm which was a nice touch, we can't comment on it as we didn't use it. The views and surroundings are lovely. The hotel is very tranquil and in a lovely setting. Lots of parking available but some of it is up or down hill and there's quite a lot of steps in certain areas of the hotel so if you struggle with your mobility it would be wise to make this known at the time of booking. Overall we would go back if in the area.
