Fox & Hounds Country Hotel

We spent three nights at the Fox and Hounds with our miniature dachshund. This has to be the most pet friendly hotel! Dogs are allowed in all public areas including the restaurants and they really get a good welcome. During our stay none of the dogs were behaving badly and it was a pleasure to be in their company. We were on a bed, breakfast and evening meal inclusive package which also included a cream tea and a couple of pints of delicious Devon cider. The hotel is set in beautiful countrywide with gardens leading down to the river. In spring and summer they must be stunning. Our room was of a very good standard and was very clean and well equipped. It was easily accessed at the top of the stairs on the first floor. All the staff, bar none, were extremely helpful and it was noticeable that they were all positive with customer service being their top priority. The food was excellent with a variety of starters and main courses on offer. The wines were reasonably price and the ones we tried tasted good. The buffet style breakfast was delicious. Overall our stay was extremely good value for money. We will be returning!!

Excellent and friendly staff, comfy rooms, good food and fabulous grounds. Used as a base for more adventurous walking in the surrounding area, this mini break was as good a dose of well being anyone could ask for. We will surely come again soon.

We stayed at the Fox and Hounds last weekend and have to say it was excellent. We were made to feel so welcome from the very start and nothing was too much trouble, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately for personal reasons we had to leave early which was a great regret but again the staff were very helpful with all our needs and we will definitely be returning. The food was excellent both at breakfast and also dining in the evening. The menu had a good choice and everything was perfectly cooked. The wood fire in the bar area was a great feature. We had a cream tea one afternoon which again was excellent. I wish the scones I bake would rise like that and be so light! Many thanks again F&Hs!

We had the most magical weekend here with our wedding being held in the treehouse at the Fox & Hounds. Despite the weather being a challenge the staff here did everything we could have wished for to make our event a wonderful and memorable occasion. Our guests all stayed in the hotel and we had a lovely meal on the Friday night, the food was all very good and enjoyed by all. Our wedding on the Saturday was held in the treehouse which we had decorated and we had a BBQ in the grounds and ate overlooking the lake then partied in the treehouse in the evening. A special mention for Tom the general manager who looked after proceedings and the bride and really helped to make the perfect wedding. For a small intimate wedding venue in a lovely rural location we could not have asked for more and will be visiting many times in the years to come. A big thank you from Steve & Kathy Bakmand.

We spent 2 nights in the most magical treehouse. Our stay was perfection. The treehouse was warm, clean, luxurious, peaceful. We enjoyed sitting outside at the handmade tables & chairs. The view from every window was stunning. A large area around the treehouse includes a pond and BBQ area, it's all fenced off so is private. There's a railway line nearby but the trains are infrequent, we enjoyed the sound of the trains going past. Our young children loved their room with bunkbeds - very fun! The beds are very comfortable. I loved the masterbed. Lying next to the window with views of the trees and reading my book was bliss. We all enjoyed the huge copper bath! Great to have a bath and a shower. We had lunch at the restaurant which was delicious.

Love staying in this relaxed Country House Hotel in a pretty valley easily found just off the A377. Rooms are big and airy and the staff are soooo friendly and just when I thought it couldn’t get any better the kitchen upped the game with a new menu. Beyond delicious! We’ll be back!
