Tru by Hilton Cedar Rapids Westdale

We enjoyed our stay in the Tru Hilton! The room was nice and clean, and the bed was very comfy! The bathroom and shower were nice as well, and the breakfast was good! We could have used an extra night just to use the pool and other amenities! 5/5 would recommend!

We've never stayed here, family in the area....we WILL be back! Staff were friendly, bed was amazingly comfortable. Sheets were SO soft! We had a king bed, so room is small, but they might great use of space. Shower was great! It's quiet...and in a nice party of the city. Breakfast was good. Not a fan of powdered eggs, but still has protein. Please leave the cheese off for those who are lactose intolerant. Would be super nice to have gluten free options, but we survived. Staff were super nice, even as we were leaving and coming off of the elevator....she might have been with housekeeping, said, "Thanks for staying with us and have a great day!" Wow! Excellent customer service. I might suggest when you have a volleyball team staying there, have more help for the breakfast bar. They cleaned it up and everyone else waited awhile. Really, other than that, this place is amazing. Other hotel chains should take lessons from Tru!

This hotel is minimalist and very clean. All staff are very friendly. Special thanks to Karie, the assistant general manager, who really went made us feel welcomed. She is a great addition to the Hilton organization. Katie is truly customer oriented. Thank you

This hotel was amazing. Simple booking, check in, reasonable pricing, clean facility and simple but modern room and technology.. the hotel was clean head to toe, bright. The staff were kind and attentive. Always smiling. Friendly! Pet friendly hotel, too. Hotel remained quiet, and the bed and bedding were amazing. Definitely a fan of Tru Hilton.

Had a room on the second floor, facing the “smoking patio”…non-stop noise and yelling until 2:00AM, when I called the front desk to complain. Stopped for 30 minutes, then started again, and continued until 4:00AM, when I had to check out to catch a flight. Zero sleep.

I initially wanted to give this hotel 3-stars, but that would not be fair. Let's start with the good. The lobby is what you would expect from the Tru brand. They all look the same. The room was clean with a nice bathroom, a big screen TV, and a very comfortable bed. The gym is open 24/7, which is nice, and the pool closes at 11 pm. The pool also had an outside sitting area that was rather nice. The lobby computer and printer were working and coffee was available (although not always fresh or hot). Now for the reason I initially though about 3-stars. The hotel either did not read or did not respect my room preference. My preference was not even mentioned when I arrived. The room was nice and big, but looked empty because it has bare-minimum furniture with only one small chair. To be fair, you can see what the rooms look like on the hotel website. What really got my attention is the weird choice of color for the hallways and rooms. They reminded me of a college dorm or a hospital ward. Definitely not what I would expect from a Hilton hotel. I think that with a new hallway carpet and paint and with a few pictures in the rooms or even a wallpaper, this hotel can be a 5-star hotel.
