Cardigan Castle

Clean and spacious room just off the castle gates with easy checkin and departure. Breakfast of champions with the full Welsh on offer, great coffee and juice. The car park is really narrow and quite small so make sure you’re comfortable taking your vehicle in. I have a large SUV and it managed but you’ve got to approach it slowly and at the right angle.

Not really a castle, I felt sorry for the little children asking when they were going to the castle. Basically you get a lawn with a stage on it, a wooden wizard, a big wooden chair and an arch made of two whale bones, oh, and a concrete pill box,all surrounded by the top part of the original castle walks. There was a house which we didn't go in. We wondered why people who left the introductory video were coming back through to leave while we were still watching it, ten minutes to go round if you don't do the house. The best part was the tub of ice cream we had from the restaurant foyer.

My husband and I stayed at the castle for two nights last weekend on a B and B basis. We were put in a room in the self catering part, not sure why. We had no tea, coffee in the rooms, no hairdryer or toiletries, apart from hand wash. We could use the kitchen which had tea etc in but we would have preferred this in our room. The room was very small and it was difficult to get your clothes on hangers in the wardrobe. You literally had to bend the hangers and this needs replacing. Now the good points. The castle is in a great location, with parking, though somewhat difficult to negotiate. The gardens are nice and interesting to walk around. We didn’t get to visit the house/museum but would next time. The breakfast in 1176 was superb. We also had one meal in 1176 at night, which again was excellent. The lady in the shop was friendly and helpful. Also, the staff in 1176 were amazing. So friendly, polite and informative. We do visit Cardigan for family reasons two to three times a year and we possibly will stay again but not in the self catering part.

The team continue to excel at Cardigan Castle! Fabulous accommodation, stunning location, welcoming and attentive team! Already booked again for 2023! Great food, service and welcome also at 1176, the on-site restaurant.

We stayed in a standard b and b room. Very nice although a standard size double bed seemed a little small having had king size at other hotels. Clean with every thing we needed. A walk in shower and no bath. The setting is quite unique and when the castle is closed to visitors you have the garden to yourself. Parking was fine. Breakfast good. Good value for money. Would recommend.

What a little gem! Spent a few hours discovering the history of this historic site & loved every minute. To see how the castle, house & grounds have been brought back to life, is fascinating, detailed in an excellent video & information boards. The grounds are well maintained & there is a superb kitchen garden & greenhouse. There's a gift shop with really nice pieces of art, ornaments, blankets, cushions, aprons etc all reasonably priced. The restaurant is superb with a great selection of beverages including decent coffee & food served by really friendly staff. A special thanks must go to 'Gwenith' for her professionalism, fantastic knowledge & friendly manner. Will definitely be back.
