The Copthorne Hotel Cardiff

Worst hotel ever the sink was upside down and dead parrots under the bed the people staying at the hotel were horrible and tried selling me to a Slovakian mob over these chatrooms. The food was rice and ice cubes with ketchup not very good

I was shocked to hear this hotel was closed to the public until Dec 23. .How on earth are you surviving without bookings from the general public? Is this not what a hotel is for? I have found this with many of the hotels in the UK, it's unbelievable that many are closed for lengthy periods. They cannot all be having refurbishments. In all the years I've booked into hotels I have never known anything like this. It's absurd.

This hotel did not disappoint! About half hour before booking here we had walked out of another hotel. We were not disappointed by spending £110 to stay here. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman on reception who kindly upgraded us after seeing the room we booked was unavailable. The interior in the reception and bar area is stunning and the open fire adds such a homely feeling. We stayed on the fourth floor and had a lovely view of the lake on site. Bed was huge and super super comfortable!!! Mini fridge with water, also a huge TV and fan supplied along with a good amount of tea/coffee. Bathroom was spotless and wrapped toiletries provided. Couldn’t hear a sound from other rooms either so a massive plus!! We booked breakfast for 9am - lovely choice although felt like fresher hot food could of been provided wasn’t a lot left when we arrived. Choice of hot English, cereals, fruit, pastries and meats. Tea/herbal tea/ coffee machine/ fruit juice. Check out was midday. Would stay here again in a flash!! Had a lovely night!

I was in room 208 just for one night on the 13th jan 2022 . First of all the staff are very nice now why I would not stay here again the bathroom in the room is by far dirty as hell the light and top of door ledge has not been dusted in months as in the photos I have takin , the bath had a large chip in it and has stains all round the bath , under the soap try on the wall has black mould under it , the toilet flush handle is cracked and has bits of the wall missing and the wall has dirty marks down it . The ceiling is cracked and is bubbled and is flaking . The toilet seat had something missing as there is a screw hole in it . The cleaning stranded within the room is well below standards I will not stay here again , I will be complaining first thing tomorrow . Be warned

The hotel cancelled my booking for August which I made 12 months ago. I cannot now find accommodation for the weekend required. No apology or explanation given. Will not recommend this hotel to anyone that needs a certain date as you cannot trust them to honour it. I am visiting Cardiff for the speedway grand prix so that's why I cannot find any alternative accommodation. I had 5 rooms booked.

A little rough around the edges in places but on the whole for the price a very solid option to stay in the area. Always opt for a hotel with a pool and always found this place great value for money compared to other hotels in the area
