"Wir waren zum Glück nur auf der Durchreise für eine Nacht hier und ich hätte tatsächlich am liebsten im Auto geschlafen. Ich kann nicht glauben, dass dieses Hotel 4* hat. Und ich bin verzweifelt da ich selbst für Zwischenübernachtungen 4* bzw. das teuerste Hotel am Ort buche und trotzdem solche Erfahrungen machen muss. Aber von vorne: Auf den ersten Blick ist das Hotel wirklich sehr ansprechend. Die Lobby, der Speisesaal, Terrasse und Pool. Alles sehr gepflegt und schön. Aber der Schein trügt. Das Zimmer ist klein, muffig und insbesondere das Bad nicht nur völlig heruntergekommen sonder wirklich widerlich. Alles ist dreckig und die Dusche ist so winzig, dass ich (sehr schlank und nicht besonders groß) mich gerade so einseifen konnte. Auch das Abendessen im Hotel ist unterdurchschnittlich und das zugehörige Personal extrem schlecht geschult. Nach dem gewünschten Wasser wurden gefragt, bevor wir saßen und die Tischdecke war schmutzig und teils löcherig. Die Auswahl der Speisen ist dürftig. Wir haben um die Weinkarte gebeten, dann hatten wir gewählt und es passierte erstmal nichts. Erst als wir den ersten Gang schon am Tisch hatten, konnten wir unsere Flasche Weißwein bestellen. Der Kellner hat dann sofort beide Gläser großzügig befüllt, ohne uns probieren zu lassen. Das passiert nicht mal in einer einfachen Pizzeria. Wir haben um 20 Uhr mit dem Essen begonnen (für Italien nicht spät) und bereits um 21:30 Uhr wurden lautstark Tische gerückt und das Frühstück vorbereitet. Kurz danach wurde die Lampe an unserem Tisch abgeräumt um uns auch wirklich ganz klar zu machen, dass wir zeitnah die Biege machen sollten. Salz und Pfeffer gab es nur auf Nachfrage und erst auf die zweite Nachfrage aus der Mühle, die dann leer war. Erstmal wurde mir abgepacktes Salz und Pfeffer angeboten. Auch Essig gibt es offenbar nur verpackt, Öl gar nicht. Abgesehen vom ökologischen Aspekt für ein Restaurant, das durchschnittlich 14€ für die Vorspeisen und 18€ für die Hauptgerichte verlangt, vollkommen indiskutabel. Das Frühstück kann ich noch nicht beurteilen aber selbst wenn es getrüffeltes Rührei gibt (das Ich liebe), würde ich nie wieder hier buchen."

"The Hotel Ariston Paestum is an excellent venue for a stay in the Cilento region of Southern Italy. My wife Gina and I spent 10 lovely days in early September 2024 at The Ariston and were very pleasantly impressed with the Management and Staff. The Hotel is a family owned and run organization with friendly and efficient personnel at all levels. We were thoroughly pleased with the facilities, the gorgeous interior decor, beautiful landscaping, fountains, dining room and bars. Our room was spacious, comfortable and a true extension of this nice venue. We observed that the hotel was constantly and happily hosting weddings, birthdays and other social affairs in its many party rooms inside and outside the buildings, obviously a very popular venue for the locals as well. The Executive Chef at the hotel's restaurant creates delicious dishes at every meal with a passion for culinary excellence featuring an open view kitchen ina charming ambience. The friendly serving staff, such as Angela and Antonio, did an impeccable job. The quality and freshness of most products consumed at The Ariston are sourced from their own Tempio Agricultural Farm, approximately a mile away, where agri-tourism takes a new meaning. We toured Tempio, a working farm with wonderful food, and observed over 1,200 heads of buffaloes and 300 or so cows, producing the milk used to manufacture the best Buffala Mozzarella we have ever had. Ricotta and other cheeses, wines, olive oil, prosciutto and may other products of this modern facility are served at the hotel's restaurant and can also be tasted or purchased at the Tempio restaurant and shop. The tour of Azienda Agricola Tempio, capped by a meal at its restaurant, is not to be missed! We learned a great deal from the dedicated, professional veterinarian Emmanuel at Tempio; he gave us an excellent tour of the buffalo production facilities. The Cilento Coast offers some great, sandy beaches with waters so clean that many were awarded the "Blue Flag" denomination for their pristine condition. The private beach at this hotel, The Lido Ariston, is one such beauty and is accessible to Hotel Ariston guests by a five minute ride on shuttles provided by the hotel. Paestum is also the ideal destination for those seeking historical context, as its Archeological Park of Paestum, which is about a ten minute ride from The Ariston, consists of ancient ruins that are among the only Greek ruins left on Italy's mainland and are very well preserved. Our appreciation and thanks to Owners and Staff at The Hotel Ariston for their warm hospitality and excellent service which made us feel welcomed at all times and made our stay so relaxing. "Wir haben das Resort übers Internet gefunden, daher war ich gespannt, ob die Anlage wirklich das halten konnte, was das Web versprach. Schon bei der Ankunft in der wunderschönen Empfangshalle, wo sich die Farben von Himmel und Garten auf dem weißen und braunen Marmor spiegeln, war mir aber klar: hier sind wir richtig! Die Anlage ist großzügig konzipiert, von der Hotelhalle bis zum Treppenhaus ist überall jede Menge Platz. Nicht nur die vielen Details, mit denen die Räume liebevoll dekoriert sind, zeigen davon, dass die Anlage mit viel Liebe und Herzblut geführt wird. Wir hatten ein geräumiges, wunderschön im amalfitanischen Landhausstil eingerichtetes Zimmer im ersten Stock des Hotels, genauso wie gebucht. Die Sauberkeit war hervorragend, das Zimmer war fast jedes Mal nach dem Frühstück schon gemacht, die Putzfrauen immer äußerst zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit, wie auch das Hotelpersonal insgesamt. An dieser Stelle ein großes Lob an die Führung und alle Mitarbeiter des Oleandri! Ein Highlight waren für uns die Mahlzeiten, die wir im Freien mit Blick auf Garten und Pool genießen konnten. Das reichhaltige Buffet beim Frühstück überraschte mit vielen typischen Produkten aus der Region, und auch das Abendessen (serviert, was ich sehr schätze!) war immer eine reine Gaumenfreude, ganz besonders auch die Pizza, bei deren Zubereitung im Steinofen man zusehen konnte. Traumhaft auch der gepflegte Strand mit feinstem Sand und glasklarem Wasser, das nur langsam tiefer wird und so für Kinder bestens geeignet ist. Zwischen den Sonnenschirmen gibt es jede Menge Platz, vom Bistro aus hat man eine gewaltige Aussicht über die gesamte Küste, es lohnt sich, die angebotenen Köstlichkeiten auszuprobieren (mein Favorit: Parmigiana 2022!). Der Spaziergang durch den Pinienwald hatte für uns auch etwas Strategisches, weil unsere Tochter sonst kaum vom Schwimmbad wegzukriegen war. Verständlich, denn der Pool, wunderschön eingebettet in die mediterrane Vegetation, ist ein weiteres Highlight dieses Hotels. Groß, nie überfüllt, mit vielen Liegen an unterschiedlichen Plätzen rund herum, ist er eine richtige Entspannungs-Oase - und wenn man Lust hat, bekommt man vom Barkeeper herrliche Cocktails oder italienische Kaffespezialitäten serviert. Zu guter letzt möchte ich auch die Animation hervorheben. Ich muss betonen, dass ich eigentlich kein Fan von Club-Animation bin, da mir das alles zu aufdringlich ist, und es mir hauptsächlich um den Mini-Club für unsere Tochter ging. Doch die Animateure im Oleandri haben sogar mich begeistern können: freundlich, humorvoll und äußerst engagiert, aber immer diskret - ich hätte besonders die Wassergymnastik und Abendeinlagen nicht missen mögen ('A città è Pulecenella' hab ich noch tagelang zuhause nachgesungen). Alles in allem: es war einer der schönsten Urlaube der letzten Jahre und wir haben fest vor, wieder hierher zurückzukommen. Zum Anschauen in der Gegend gibt's auch genug - und viele Orte der Amalfiküste oder des Cilento sind besten"

The owner was very nice and friendly and recommended some restaurants for dinner (even though communication was hard as we don't speak Italian and the owner speaks no English). Our only problem was that both in the evening and the morning, there wasn't enough hot water in the room even for a single, short shower."
