A Cambridge House Inn

Very well priced compared to other options in the area. We had a room with a private bath. Would not stay here if it was a shared bath like some of the rooms. Spacious room, loved the wall paper and overall decor. Decorative bedding did not look clean and overall, not that clean. Bits of paper on bathroom floor as well as a random sock that didn't belong to us. For that reason, beyond the sheets being changed, not sure if room was cleaned before our stay. Great place across the street to grab food. I wasn't expecting breakfast so wasn't disappointed that they don't provide that. Would stay again if in a pinch.

We were in a contemporary room in the building next door to the main facility. The bed was comfortable. Management let us store our luggage before check-in, but was otherwise not very helpful. The room had a refrigerator. The spare quilt smelled faintly of urine. Most annoying was that, even though this is listed as a B&B, there was no breakfast. Only coffee. So don’t stay here if you’re expecting breakfast to be part of the value.

There is no breakfast served...at all. Coffee and Tea...that's it. Sort of misleading. I was in a room in the house next door which is the no frills/ basic house. Not the victorian/colonial pictures you see on the website. Too bad they don't give a basic price. You still have to pay the same price as the pretty rooms. Parking is first come, first serve- and because of this, people were packed in like sardines. If you didn't back into your space, you had a very hard time getting out. And if you didn't get a space at all, you were out of luck. It was clean, but if i was ever going to Cambridge again I would look for a different place to stay.

Stayed here for two week nights. Arrived late afternoon and got the last parking space in their limited capacity lot next door. Left the car there safely for the next two days. Easy access to 2 red line T stops - easily got everywhere we wanted to go. Our second floor room (no elevator) was small but clean w/ very comfortable bed & good temperature control. Quiet at night. We had our own bath, though some rooms share. (Hotel guests seemed like combination of retirees and students. Sort of "boarding house" vibe.) Wish they still provided breakfast, but there's an OK place across the street.

We were so hoping to find a new place to stay for a week-long visit close to our family after the wonderful Mary Prentiss Inn closed, but this didn't work out for us. We were given a large room which looked nice, but the bed was rock hard and so were pillows. Also, the central heat coming out of the turned off radiator was unbearably hot, even with the window open and A/C window unit fan turned on. We tried to solve the problem by asking staff to help us turn off our radiator, but they said it couldn't be done. We went to Target in Porter Square to buy a mattress topper and a softer pillow. That helped but it was still too hot and uncomfortable at night. We finally gave up and checked out 3 nights early. We had to pay for two of the 3 nights. Not sure about cleanliness of place. Staff did not wear masks. There was an old tea bag in water pot in room, a hair in tub/shower when we first checked in and plastic pieces of something in bathroom sink drain. No cleaning service provided.. No breakfast or fresh coffee in dining area. Very sorry this didn't work out since location is ideal.
