My recent experience at Lawley House was unpleasant and disheartening. While the property has a charming, old colonial feel, my initial encounter left much to be desired. Despite having my accommodation booked and prepaid through my company, I faced unexpected obstacles. Upon arrival, I was directed to the incorrect part of the property due to a misleading address (59 vs. 59A Lawley Road). When I contacted the owner, an elderly gentleman (Peter), he quickly informed me that no rooms were available, even after I provided confirmation and proof of payment. This dismissive response persisted until I escalated the situation with evidence, at which point a room miraculously appeared. The whole interaction left me feeling unwelcome as if an unseen barrier influenced my initial reluctance to accommodate me. A young woman assisting the host attempted to smooth things over, suggesting I contact her directly in the future. However, given that the provided number was the owner’s, this advice seemed impractical. The most troubling aspect was the feeling that my treatment might have been influenced by factors unrelated to any genuine booking confusion. It's disappointing to encounter such barriers today, and it underscores the importance of ensuring all guests receive equal and unbiased hospitality. 😟
