I walked up to the front desk and asked “Do you have any pet friendly rooms available.” The front desk clerk said yes, so I checked in and was assigned a room on the second floor. Took my dog up, gave her food and water after our long road trip and started to unpack and settle in for the night. I get a phone call. It’s the front desk asking if I had a dog in my room. Confused by the question I said yes. The front desk started accusing me of sneaking my dog in to avoid paying the pet fee. No discussion, just straight to accusations. “The first thing I asked is if you had any pet friendly rooms available.” “NO YOU DIDN’T!” was the response from the front desk clerk. “You have to come down to the front desk, sign more paperwork for your dog fee and move to the first floor.” By the way, openly walking your dog on a leash through the hotel lobby, while carrying their bed and stopping to let people pet her is considered “sneaking” your dog into the hotel. I made no attempt to hide the fact I had a dog. Why would I, I asked or a pet friendly room. So within 5 minutes of checking in, I was called a liar, accused of “sneaking” my dog into my room, told I had to change rooms because they screwed up, and instead of accepting the fact they screwed up, get blamed for their mistake. I just packed up, left, and had a wonderful night stay at the Best Western across the street. It was more expensive, but the staff actually knew what they were doing.
