Poor hotel and poor comments from the manager 1. Cold shower in the morning, I tried to phone reception - no answer 3 times- so I had a cold shower and told the guy at reception who shrugged - he was never going to fix it and I didn’t have time to go to another room or wait for a non existent repair 2. I was down for breakfast at 0645 ( booked the night before) like I have done on previous stays , to be told the chef was late. I had to leave at 7 am and the chef turned up at 0650 - I was offered toast but couldn’t wait for a cooked breakfast £80 for a cold shower and coffee and toast is expensive and the manager did not offer a refund and refuted my comments Stay away unless you like cold showers and cold people

We booked as a 4 day getaway. Location ok, we had to drive about 20 min to main local towns and visitor attractions. We were aware of this before we came. Lots to do in the area. We were upgraded free of charge to a disabled room due to health problems. The upgraded room was perfect, thank you. All staff were courteous, helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Only downside was no evening meal available only breakfast. We were given the recommendation of local restraunts/ pubs which were excellent. Chetewynde is well worth a visit.

Stay her for a few days whilst working in Barrow. Usually I stay in the premier inn but our office put me here. Check in was very easy and pleasant. The staff member was friendly and helpful. The breakfast times we’re whilst I was in work but an arrangement was made for the continental breakfast items to be out before I left in the morning. The room was spacious and cosy. Bed very comfortable. The WiFi was very good. The staff member at breakfast was very friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. Good sized car park. Will be returning soon.

Very nice place to stay. Very friendly, helpful staff who made you feel very welcome. The room was very clean and comfortable with tea and coffee provided. We had a lovely view of the garden and so peaceful.

Chose the hotel because of the proximity to the business I was attending. Only Deluxe Room was available at a premium. The room and the ensuite were clean to a high standard and the double bed was comfortable. The furniture was dated and did not look the part of the newly built annex. Very old and temperamental plasma TV on the wall. There was no option for temperature control in the room. Overall, reasonable stay if you are not expecting too much from a superior or deluxe room

I stayed for two nights to see some of the local sights. The location was excellent for what I wanted to see - Furness Abbey, Piel Castle etc. I had a lovely big room on the top floor (stairs are no problem for me, even at my advanced age!) with everything I needed. There was a bath, and a very good shower over it, in the bathroom. There is plenty of parking and an excellent breakfast is served. The lady receptionist recommended two pubs for dinner (the Bay Horse was excellent and a nice walk after a day of driving, though go in the car if you have trouble with hills!) I would definitely stay again if in the area.

Came to the Chetwynde for a family wedding after not seeing my family since 2019 due to covid and I had a lovely time!! the wedding was beautifully set up and the staff were all really attentive and the location is beautiful!!! The rooms were very clean and the beds comfy !! You could tell the staff really care about their presentation!! The food was lovely in the morning and in the evening and they were even attentive when I asked about Sticky Toffee Pudding and my order WAS very confusing but they dealt with it professionally and with humour which was lovely! I really felt as if I’d got to know the staff as the stay progressed and the overall place has a lovely atmosphere !!
