Stayed here during February half term ski season with a family of 5 (and 2 rooms). First time skiing in Spain and Baqueria. The hotel is pretty much what you would expect from a 3star ski hotel in Europe. The rooms were basic, quite small and roughly decorated. Although there was plenty of wear on the fittings it was clean enough and the shower etc worked well. What was good was the location, a 5 minute walk to the main lifts, the bar was fun and large and the boot room spacious. Some of the staff were very helpful. When we checked into our non smoking room it smelt like an ashtray and we when we complained the staff were extremely helpful in offering a replacement room and immediately cleaning our room. It was a great response. What was poor was the main restaurant, reception staff were occasionally rude (clicking their fingers and shouting at us across the foyer to put a mask on) and housekeeping seemed almost non existent on occasion (dirty cup in our room for 3 days until we moved it into the corridor). The buffet in the restaurant was something we really didn’t like - the quality of the food was often bad and the room itself had all the charm of a sports hall .Brightly lit and not particularly clean. We chose to eat out a few nights and were very glad we did. I understand the hotel used to have table service and this has been done to save cost. Very dirty toilets by the restaurant too. I expect it has been tough in Covid for ski hotels. It was also clearly hotel policy not to give you toilet rolls when they ran out (2 supplied). To get new ones you had to ask reception for 2 more. I just don’t understand why housekeeping didn’t replace them every day rather than ask guests to ask reception for more. Pretty demeaning and pointless. Overall this is a 3star hotel that occasionally dips below standard and the restaurant is especially disappointing. We liked Baqueria a lot and will likely be back but we will almost certainly seek out another hotel in the resort.
