Nice smallish hotel. They did a very good job of saving the large native trees when developing it and didn't scalp the waterfront (unlike other hotels in the area). So, for that reason there are no views of the laguna from the rooms, but there is a view from the restaurant. We had a room with a queen bed and a small balcony that looked out on to a large tree canopy. The room was up a narrow curving flight of stairs. Very comfortable bed with tiny night tables on each side. No other furniture in the room - stark to say the least. We ended up bringing the table and chairs on the balcony inside to have somewhere to sit inside besides the bed, as it was raining a lot during our stay. Small closet and shelves on either side for clothes and suitcases in the bedroom. Safe provided. Large bathroom with small shelves. All in all nowhere to put things like glasses, books, binoculars, phones. At least a table would have nice and an indoor chair. That said, the staff was friendly and the two hostesses - Vanessa and Goreti were extremely helpful with information and arrangements for tours. The restaurant staff/maids also provided good service and were friendly if you engaged them. The breakfast was good with eggs fixed several ways, fruit, toast and coffee. Plenty of food. You could also order off the menu but had to pay for anything not in the free breakfast. The food at dinner was good and prices were very reasonable. So, if you didn't feel like going into town to eat it was fine. We loved using the kayaks (in between thunderstorms and downpours) - having access to them at no charge was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. The area was quiet, but there was some noise from the highway until evening, and again in the early morning. Otherwise lots of birds to wake you up. The dock with palapa and hammocks was nice and the swimming pleasant - laguna water was really warm. We didn't use the pool except to sit and read a bit until another storm hit. But the birdwatching from the pool area to the undeveloped property to the north was amazing (with binoculars) - also good from our room. If you have a rental car, watch out for some of the big rocks in the driveway/parking area. Also, it is tricky and full of potholes to get to the hotel entrance from the highway. Best to look for the Las Nubes hotel sign and enter there, then angle left along a short dirt track to the entrance.
