We thoroughly enjoyed staying at La Hacienda. It is well located for Arucas, Las Palmas and routes into the interior aside from being a beautiful and atmospheric hotel. Our small suite was comfortable and gave us the space we needed for our 3 night stay though for longer stays with more than the one suitcase we had, I would say that occupants would regard it as somewhat cramped for a suite, though the additional 'downstairs' space might provide a useful extension of the room proper. Wifi was fast and stable which was not always the case with the hot water which, in the morning at least, took quite some time to run significantly hot. The detailing in the bathroom was a little tired and the varnished wooden steps you needed to climb to enter the large bath felt like a bit of a hazard when combined, inevitably, with water. The lack of a sink plug is not something I would expect from a hotel of this calibre. The bed was very cosy and comfortable. A stronger light in the main room would have made it easier to read at night time. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to avail ourselves of the swimming pool, garden and jacuzzi all of which looked very temping and well-maintained. Breakfast was a highlight. The selection was extensive and featured local Canarian specialities (such as Teror Chorizo and gofio banana juice) and some variants straight from the kitchen. My partner said the tortilla was one of the best she had ever had!. By contrast, dinner was passable but not of a quality commensurate with the standard generally of the hotel. At first glance, the menu looks to be of a good standard, featuring local cuisine but some of the mains (eg the gambas) turn out to be, in effect, tapas and therefore fall short of what you would reasonably expect at this stage of a dinner. The grilled canarian cheese starter was just a plate of molten cheese which was a very odd dish indeed. We felt dinner at the Hacienda was a reasonable choice if you had had a long day, were keen to get to bed and couldn't afford the time to drive into Arucas or LP but otherwise needed an overhaul not to risk disappointing those who might expect a higher general standard. Finally, parking is plentiful and if using a Sat Nav, enter Jardin de la Marquesa if, like us, you find the location hard to track down. All in all, this was a great choice for us and hope to return one day.
