Family of 3 visited here recently & I have to say I was astonished by several things in this hotel and not all in a good way. We paid £107 B&B for 1 night which is a decent price. However, the cleanliness of the room is a lot to be desired. The hotel claims to have "modernised" it's rooms, yet in 114, there is still a mix of old and new furniture, the dust was thick, fag papers down the side of the bedside table; paint work was awful; brand new bathroom yet, bath tub was dirty and the shower head has seen better days and no hair dryer in the drawer like stated. We went to find someone so we could address the issues but no one was at reception & my husband convinced me to stay. We didn't have dinner which I am quite relieved at as judging by the breakfast we had, it would not have been great. At breakfast, it's basic, either cereal, toast or a cooked breakfast. We opted for the cooked which for me wasn't, my bacon and sausage were rubbery, my beans tasted like they had been sitting in a pot since early morning. My husband enjoyed his but he eats most things, my daughter ate 2 potato scones. Prices of drinks are reasonable no more than £8/9 for 2 lagers. Cocktails are out of a funkin bag. Singer was in and she was good. Staff (when you see them) are friendly. Hot tub in the car park was not working. Iron is located in a cupboard for everyone to use which had it pros & cons. I understand that this hotel is probably more aimed at people who are going walks up the hills, however we thought we would give it a try because it claims to have up dated the decor but anyone staying will realise this.
