First the good. Very friendly, helpful, & accommodating staff. Clean rooms, comfortable bed, beautiful view. Very quiet and relaxing! A few things that aren’t bad, just would’ve been helpful to know. The food at Costa Blu is pricey! Same meal in town less (ex: $20 omelette + $4 USD for toast) at Aji tapas bar, $11-USD including toast) also MANY things on the menu were unavailable (even jelly for the toast at 7 am)…. In the room, no tissues or lotion was provided. SERIOUSLY! DO NOT FLUSH A SINGLE PIECE OF TOILET PAPER! Or you get to have a super awkward encounter with the nice maintenance man. The pillows are very flat, and there is a woodpecker who wakes up at 5:06 am every morning and is intent on waking you up as well. I guess more time to enjoy the day. :) they say it’s a resort, I guess I was expecting a little more… there is no spa, but they had two excellent massage therapists come to our room, which was nice. At other resorts, they have enough staff to bring you drinks & check in onyou throughout the day. If you wanted anything at costa blu, you had to go to the bar to get anything you needed. (Wayne was very helpful) They did have construction, but we were on the other side of the resort, and they seemed to keep reasonable hours. It was not intrusive at all. They are building new buildings to sell, that’s where the money is going. Everything else was slightly on the run down side. But still functioning. There are a bunch of “Wishwilly” iguanas. They are really neat to see…. But no one cleans up after them at all. You need to watch where you step. The AC mostly worked great and they have really nice fans in the rooms. The deck was really nice, sunny on the top floor, shaded on the bottom floor. We spent one day at the resort just relaxing, but with the prices of food, we ended up going into town for almost every meal, which was a neat experience. It really is 6.5 miles to town on a VERY bumpy road, Belizian speed bums :) (they do mention this, but it’s hard to really get it until you’re there. Pedal to the medal in the golf cart 35 minutes) we rented a cart for the week with a private company as Costa Blu was more expensive. That gave us the freedom to come & go as we pleased. We did not really notice any misquitos or biting bugs until the last day. Hubby got a couple of bites. There were a couple of cockroaches in the bathroom, but I think that’s pretty unavoidable in a tropical climate. I don’t think we’d stay at Costa Blu if we returned, the price was good, but it’s more convenient closer to town. I was thinking you could snorkel right from the resort, you can’t… it was very windy so we never tried the paddle board or kayak. (Which were available and looked to be in good condition) Also, you can’t just walk into the water at all. It’s not a sandy beach. There is a retaining wall, but it seems that is normal for most of the resorts. So, overall a solid 3 stars mainly for the cleanliness of the room, the few staff we had interaction
