Allanton Inn

Room 4 was quite compact but very comfortable with a good shower and nice toiletries. Bar area is very good and cosy. Food was excellent both in the evening and at breakfast. I have stayed previously in summer and the beer garden is excellent to sit/eat in with very nice views over fields. The are also some covered tables with heaters.

I only happened on the Allanton Inn by chance, looking for accommodation in the hugely underrated Scottish Borders. What a find! Everything about the hotel is perfect, Katrina, William and Craig are the perfect hosts, ensuring that our stay was a memorable one. Our bedroom was of the highest standard and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant every night and, despite the fact that I’m not an epicure, I swear the Allanton deserves at least 1 Michelin star, every meal was sublime. The pub is popular with locals and visitors alike but there is no “them and us” vibe you might find in similar establishments, everyone is very friendly and we both felt very much at home. The Allanton Inn is very handy for exploring the beautiful Berwickshire coastline and there are beautiful walks right outside the pub. I can’t praise the Allanton Inn enough and we’re looking forward to our next visit.

A little gem. Friendly staff, nice room and lovely food, especially the sea food and the freshly cooked breakfast = excellent value for money. Would definitely recommend as an ideal stopover for the Scottish borders and close to Duns, which is worth a visit

Great little pub with rooms - everyone was very friendly and helpful from start to finish. The breakfasts were amazing, absolutely delicious with plenty of choices. Our evening meals were even better, the food was outstanding with everything locally sourced. The menu was full of interesting choices and combinations plus the vegetarian options were superb. Usually the vegetarian choices are some sort of pasta, goats cheese or mushroom risotto - not here. Beautiful baked aubergine stuffed with lentils, sweet potato with spiced chickpeas … I could go on. The meat eaters were delighted with beautiful local fish dishes and local meat. Really good freshly cooked food. We were planning a long walk and Catriona very kindly made up a picnic lunch for us too. As for the accommodation - very, very comfortable. We had large rooms facing out to the front with super king beds. The beds and bedding were excellent. The rooms were bright and airy with kettle, complimentary tea tray, iron etc plus complimentary bathroom products. If I was being picky I would mention that the shower room was on the small side but it was perfectly fine for us. Everything was very clean and our rooms were made up daily. This a really excellent place to stay, relax and eat well. All the staff were lovely and the whole place had a great atmosphere - I thoroughly recommend it! PS I forgot to mention the superb enclosed garden which although (due to the weather) we didn’t use but there were several tables, pizza oven and eating pods. I can only think it’s as well run as the rest of the place.

Ate here earlier this week and what a wonderful experience it was. Lovely staff and the food served was of the highest quality. I most certainly recommend the Scottish traditional dish of cullen skink.....this is certainly a delicacy I'm so glad I tried

We recently stayed at the Allanton Inn and had an absolutely fantastic experience. From the moment we arrived, the welcome was warm and inviting. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was exceptional, with plenty of delicious options. My wife, who follows a vegan diet, was particularly impressed by the variety of choices available to her—a refreshing change from many places we’ve stayed. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean, and provided a comfortable space to relax after exploring the beautiful Scottish Borders. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommended!

One of the best dining and accommodation experiences we have had anywhere in the world. High standard of wine and food. The rooms are delightfully decorated and cosy. The staff are excellent, efficient and most welcoming. We loved this pub and thoroughly recommend it as a must stay if you're travelling through the Borders.

Two night stay, Our second visit. Excellent food and excellent service. Warm welcome, friendly and a great garden. Comfy bed. Will return in the future. Easy drive to St Abbs one day and down to Craster next day for picturesque coastal walks. Superb local Kippers for breakfast!

I thoroughly researched before booking this hotel Allanton Inn, and the restaurant exceeded my expectations ! the food was outstanding, Great Service, Great Pub atmosphere. The restaurant definitely worth a visit, as the chefs truly know how to create amazing dishes. The room was comfortable, clean and all the staff were friendly.. I highly recommend this place, this was my first stay and certainly wont be my last.
