Vila Petra

The location is near residential area and is peaceful and quiet. Our room and balcony faces a not very pretty lot but it didn’t matter so much as we weren’t in the room much of the day. The room was clean and the kitchen very well equipped with utensils and appliances. the sofa bed sheets had some hair which was not too pleasant. On one of the mornings, the electricity went out for 30 minutes but luckily it wasn’t too hot at that time. As it was September, the hotel was fairly quiet most of the time although the front desk told us they were fully booked. There were supermarkets nearly so it was convenient to get food and drinks, and there is a couple of very good Portuguese restaurants within walking distance.

We stayed here mid Aug as a family of four with 2 teenagers 18 & 15 in a (very roomy) 1 bedroom apartment S/C and can honestly say had the best 10 days at this hotel! Everything from the apartment to communal areas spotlessly clean. Cleaners came everyday which is a first for us anywhere we have stayed before. Every member of staff we had contact with were friendly and approachable. Reception staff and particularly the lady who checked us in (sorry can not remember her name) was so lovely. Bar staff in the green bar are a lovely bunch of people. We ate here on a few occasions during our holiday for steak night, Mexican & barbecue night and the food was lovely and good value for money! The entertainment team were brilliant we enjoyed watching them do their thing everyday by the pool The gates to the pool are not opened until 9am so there is no getting up at the crack of dawn to reserve sunbeds even in the middle of the school summer holidays there was no sunbed wars The hotel is in a great location 5 mins walk to the top of the *****, an aldi round the corner & we would get an uber to old town that only took about 5 mins at a cost of around €4. We have never returned to a hotel before but we all agreed that this would be a first and we would definitely not hesitate to book here again. Thankyou vila petra we had a blast ☀️

The best self catering hotel we have stayed at. The apartment was huge! It made our 10 day stay so comfortable we had our own space, lots of storage. The kitchen has everything you need, all bosch appliances including a dishwasher. We used it for breakfast and lunch, then went out for meals each night. The maid comes in everyday and cleans. The grounds are lovely, everything is spaced out and not busy. No rush for sunbeds there were always some available throughout the day. Some reviews mentioned strict pool rules, small balls were allowed and kids can jump in. There is no lifeguard, no inflatables which I agree with as there were so many different ages, plus there was more room. The entertainment team were excellent, my 9 year-old loved all the different sports. Indoor pool and jacuzzi gave a welcomed break from the sun. The only negative was that the soundproofing of the apartments is not great.

We are just leaving the hotel this morning, and we mainly had a great holiday. The hotel is very clean throughout, with staff constantly maintaining the public areas and the rooms 5* to the staff for that. The other staff are friendly enough, but they really need to smile more and seem happy to help. Especially at the pool bar. Very pleasant, but we always felt as if we were an incontinence. The other point I would like to make is the noise, firstly from the entertaininment team, who were great if you want constant noise, but when you are looking for some will out time by the pool forget it. 10am the music goes on at an incredible level, so much so I could not hear my own relaxing music on my headphones. Then, at 3pm, they were back again. The music needs to be turned down to a level that is comfortable for all. Just my opinion . Secondly, the number of young adult groups of males that were staying and the noise level they made were ridiculous. Throughout the night, we were constantly woken but some commotion. The lovely lady who was on reception was great, and she did sort it. But still, around the pool area was at times not great . To finish on a positive, these things did not spoil our holiday and I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

The most beautiful hotel we have stayed in Portugal, rooms were immaculate, and everything we needed was provided. The staff in the kids club and entertainment staff were UNBELIEVABLE! Found the drinks a little expensive and the prices were different all the time. One bad thing to say about vila petra was a man that worked in the bar called Antonio, the rudest, most ingnorant, angry man i have ever come across. My bank card was a little bent and when i went to purchase a drink from him i explained to him the card had to be put into the machine slowly as it was a bit fragile, he rammed it into the machine and it wouldn’t read it, i tried to ask him again would he just put it into the machine slowly he said no, so then i asked him would he mind swiping it so again he rammed it through and it wouldn’t read it, i asked him could i do it please he refused to let me put the card into the machine, and then pushed the machine into my face (it was touching my nose) madam can you see your card it not working! I said i cant see what it says because you have poked my eye out with the machine, i had to push the machine away from my face, so then he decided to put his three fingers into my face and said i have done this three times do you understand me miss, i will not do it again i will charge to your room, i asked him if he was ok that he seemed very angry and he gave me the look of death.. another man came up behind me and asked for a drink, to which antonio’s reply was.. why are you drinking in this bar can you not go down to the pool bar! The man was apologetic and said oh i didnt realise i couldn’t drink up here! He accused us three times on another occasion of not paying our dinner bill, which we had paid, and we had no problem by the way paying with our card on that occasion! There was also a couple (70yrs old) that had travelled to vila petra 9 years in a row and he accused them of not paying their bill, grabbed the lady by her arm and swung her around and started shouting at her in front of everyone in the restaurant.. you did not pay you did not pay, she said we booked half board our meals are included, he told them to stay put while he rang reception, when he came back he just walked straight past them ignoring them almost and the lady said.. well did you ring them? He said you can go! This hotel was amazing but alot of couples and families were giving out about this man and said they would not be returning because of his rude and nasty behaviour! He will drag this hotel down if he continues working there!

We're just back from Vila Petra and wished we could stay longer. I'm just shocked reading the bad reviews but the guests that left them must have been extremely out of order as you'd never see or hear any sort of trouble or any sign of the security team. Hotel staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Table service at the terrace and stone bar is great but can be a bit slow in the evening especially when busy but when you're on holiday you're not in any mad rush. The apartment we stayed in was spacious and clean, great kitchen facilities and I don't even think we used the TV once which is a first for our family. The bathroom is lovely and great big counter top however the shower is not great at all. It's mounted onto the side wall of the bath instead of at the top so you don't have that much space to wash and the pressure isn't at all that great. I believe it would be better to remove the bath and put in a stand alone shower unit. The bedroom was spacious and the aircon was a welcome addition on the nights when it was over 25 degrees at night. They are only two twin beds and they're not the most comfortable for what is a 4 star complex. It would be great if some of the rooms could have a double instead or at least ones where the wheels could have brakes installed. Pool area is fantastic, there's never any shortage of sunbeds, and there's little to no messing around the poolside despite there not being a lifeguard. Word of warning to any potential customers - read the rules around the pool because you will be told about the use of balls and inflatibles as both are prohibited. Indoor pool is a great addition especially when the weather gets too hot outside. The gym is fairly basic but great to have the use of. There's a playground and multi-use court, suitable for tennis, basketball and football. Last but not least, Vila Petra wouldn't be anything special if it wasn't for the wonderful Bellux Entertainment. Their wide range of activities throughout the day and in the evening and the kids club made our time at Vila Petra a great experience. Many thanks to Ana, Mariela, Linda, David, Adrian & Mari who were great to get patrons up out of their sunloungers and get active and meet other guests. We will be back Vila Petra - we cannot wait.

Just stayed here for a week. Lovely hotel. Really large rooms with plenty of storage. Lovely pool view room. Hotel staff really helpful and friendly. Pool a really good size with a nice pool bar. Evening entertainment in the bar every night. Though was a little small but the entertainment staff were really good and friendly. Nice pool room downstairs to have a game. There is a gym. Quite small if you're a regular gym goer but you could adapt to get a good workout. Didn't eat in the hotel but the food looked nice. Small little shop on site which sells your regular essentials. Nicely stocked. Rooms were cleaned daily. Would definitely stay here again. It is a bit far from the old town about a 40 min walk or about 4 to 5 euros in an uber. 10 mins from aldi and 5 mins from the new town *****.

Stayed 5 nights in 2 bed apartment with friends Huge apartment overlooking pool with 2 bed 2 bath and 2 kitchens. Every member of staff was pleasant and friendly. Apartment cleaned daily. Great entertainment team. Stayed in for Mexican all you can eat. Fantastic value. Location great 5 mins from new town ***** 10 mins from old town on taxi which hotel would sort. This hotel exceeded all of our expectations and we wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend to friends
