The Wellington Heifer

The Heifer is a pub/restaurant with rooms. It has a very good atmosphere. The service was excellent and there is a good choice of food available. Breakfast was also made to order. We had a great 1 night stay. There is some road noise but it is not too intrusive. All in all, I recommend it.

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting family that live in Romanby - I’ve known the Wellington Heifer for years and the village of Ainderby Steeple, being a local lass. We were not disappointed. The welcome was warm and friendly as you’d expect from Yorkshire folk. The room was a good size and the shower room with toiletries excellent. There was some decorating being done and I expect they’ll get around to freshening up the bedroom walls. That being said, it’s a great country pub and we’d not hesitate to stay again. We had a family meal one evening and the food was excellent. The open fire and wood burner provided a nice cosy area to sit in. Breakfast was included in the price and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his cooked breakfast. Not being a cooked breakfast fan my choices were limited to cereal, toast and fruit. Maybe some yogurts, fruit compote or even porridge would be a welcome addition. All in all a lovely stay in a quiet village. You do need a car or transport if staying in Ainderby Steeple. Not far from the A1 and a stones throw from Northallerton.

The Wellington Heifer was not at it's best during our visit. It had just been closed for three days for decorating - and the decorators were still there on the day we left. That said though, we had an absolutely brilliant stay and so look forward to returning to see it as it should be. The food was excellent; we had a lovely room, and access to the rooms via a separate secure outside door was very easy, and the staff were a delight. I can't recommend it enough - especially once the decorators have finished!

Very friendly staff, the food was delicious, breakfast and dinner. The room very comfortable, an enjoyable stay in lovely surroundings. A place to return to in the future. We had a family birthday meal there and everything was cooked to perfection.

Stayed at the Wellington Heifer on a golf trip we had two really nice rooms and the food was very good the staff where great pleasant knowledgeable and eager to please we will definitely stay again with either the wife or golfing friend's on future trips

Had a three night stay here to have our wedding blessing with family in the church opposite. The staff were amazing and really helpful with everything we needed. The room was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. We had a family meal after our blessing and the food was divine: huge compliments to the chef (the breakfasts were delicious too)! In fact, the whole experience was wonderful - even just relaxing on an evening in the pub with a drink. It made our weekend as we don't get together as a family very often! Thank you Rob and team!

2nd stay - very nice well run traditional country pub with very comfortable accommodation Excellent food, great service with very courteous staff. Well located for all Nth Yorks sites. Alongside main road but traffic noise is not intrusive. Look forward to revisiting when next in the area. No negatives.

Brilliant two night stay. The twin room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The food was excellent, good choice, great quality and delicious. From booking to check out all the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Thanks.

Thank you to everyone at The Wellington Heifer for our very comfortable stay. We booked by phone which was straight forward and friendly. A few days before our stay we requested either an early check-in time or the opportunity to freshen up at the hotel before going on to a wedding just a short drive away. Rob (who we think is the manager) replied (by email) swiftly and organised an early check-in which we greatly appreciated. The young lady who checked us in was very pleasant and efficient. The next morning Stephanie served us a delicious breakfast (cooked by a French chef) with choices of fruit and cereals followed by a full English. Stephanie was friendly and professional. Thank you also to housekeeping staff for the high level of cleanliness and comfort of our room.
