The Leddie

We stayed here for 2 nights commencing Hogmanay. Overall experience great. To summarise: Staff all we met very helpful, pleasant, courteous etc - no problems whatsoever. Rooms - spotless clean with great range L'Occitane products and lovely towels/linen etc. Food (breakfast and dinner) - great well served i.e in reasonable time frame to allow for fresh prep etc. Bar - staffed well - nice beers/wine/champagne. Also should note that we had purchased the special package for Hogmanay which included bottle of champagne in room on arrival - that had been arranged as described. Also had the scones with champagne the following day as part of that package. Worth noting that there is in fact a bus service right outside hotel which takes you to North Berwick or any of the other towns in between. This was actually operating New Year's Day. So in fact we parked up the car on arriving and did not use until departure. Can't wait to go back.

I had high hopes for The Leddie, but unfortunately, it fell short on nearly every front. Service: The staff seemed overwhelmed and inattentive. We waited over 15 minutes just to have our order taken, and it took even longer for our food to arrive, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. When we finally got our server's attention, they were rushed and dismissive. Food: This was the biggest letdown. The menu promised fresh and flavorful dishes, but what we received was anything but. The pasta was overcooked and bland, the steak was dry and underseasoned, and the vegetables were cold. For the prices charged, I expected far better quality and attention to detail. Ambiance: While the decor was nice, the atmosphere was chaotic. The loud music clashed with the overall vibe, making it hard to have a conversation. Value: The experience did not justify the price. I left feeling disappointed and as though I wasted my money. I rarely write negative reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience in hopes that The Leddie will take steps to improve. Sadly, I cannot recommend this restaurant in its current state.

Had Saturday lunch in the lounge. Relaxed atmosphere and cosy on a windy, dreich day. Service v good and the food was excellent. Great fish and chips and a wonderful mushroom pappardelle dish with truffle oil. The place has had a complete makeover and we will definitely be back.

Well what a fabulous find, and an amazing trip, almost want to keep this magical place to myself! Every ounce of this little gem was extra special. We had the pleasure of staying 4 nights and what a treat it was. The team - far too many of them to mention individually and I'm sure I'll miss someone but here goes - Sophie, Maddie, Murran, Robbie, Siobhen thank you - the service was exceptional - warm, friendly, helpful, great hosts, and couldn't do enough to make your stay super. It felt very much like a family, brilliant team. The hotel - our room was something special, gorgeous comfy huge bed, lovely little personal treats, messages and shortbread - delicious, super shower - all you could ask for. The lounge areas were great place to sit with a drink, or play a game, relaxing. The food - wow, hats off to the chefs! you are culinary masterchefs!! Every dish we tried, and we had a few, was something special - my favourites were the burrata, with plum and fig wow!! the sea trout with risotto and the lemon pannacotta. Wish you were round the corner I'd be round for dinner every week ! The choice of breakfast was super too, again brilliant quality ingredients, superbly cooked each time If you get a chance to try the winter cocktails do, there's one with pear brandy I think ...gorgeous. Thank you all so much for your brilliant hospitality, we can't wait to return

Had a lovely trip to Aberlady on my honeymoon. Waitresses Maddy and Murron were excellent hosts and all were so lovely. Highly recommend this immersion of Scottish culture. The food was exceptional and delicious drinks too. Will 100% be coming back!!!

Popped in for lunch today. Second visit, we live locally. Given water and menus then ignored for the next 20 minutes, had to catch the eye of a member of staff to place any order. Lovely menu, food has been excellent on our visits it was the service today that totally let the place down. It was hard work getting what we asked for! A cup had to be requested when a hot drink was ordered and brought to the table (!), hot water for the tea was forgotten (that had also been requested) and no teaspoons with our cups - we'd given up by that point. it wasn't busy either so no excuse there.
