I arrived in Taupo on the morning Air NZ flight from AKL, upon arrival at the Chevron Motel, 4 hours before the published check-in time, I had planned to ask to have my luggage stored while I go about other business. The receptionist kindly asked me to wait while she checked to see if my room was ready, and if so, I could have my room right away. Lucky for me it was, I was very pleased with the initiative and flexibility offered. My booking included a living area with dining table, kitchen, sofa, spare single bed, a separate bedroom, and a dedicated parking space. My stay of 5 nights was very comfortable, and I will definitely use this motel again on my next visit. I would like to offer a few suggestions for improvements, first - a split type AC unit was present in the living room, it would be great if there could be a second unit installed in the bedroom. Internet connectivity, available 24/7, while adequate, did have limited bandwidth affecting video streaming from Netflix/YouTube etc. Lastly, it would be great if the TV provided in the living room had a larger screen. In summary, I was very pleased with my stay at the Chevron Motel, the room offered great value for money, and I was completely relaxed and comfortable during my stay.

I had a great stay at this hostel, and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The common areas were clean, comfortable, and had a great atmosphere for meeting other travelers. I ended up making some new friends here, and we realized we were planning to visit many of the same places, so we explored together. That really made my trip even more memorable. The hostel itself was very clean and well-maintained, and I was impressed with the overall experience. The only issue I encountered was with late check-in. My bus arrived much later than expected, so I wasn't able to arrange an after-hours check-in in advance. I understand that the instructions were provided by email, but I did have a moment of panic because I was asked to call the hostel's phone number. Since I was traveling with only an eSIM and didn't have a New Zealand phone number, I wasn't able to make the call. It would be great if there were an alternative way to contact the hostel for late check-ins, such as WhatsApp, email, or an online messaging system. Overall, this hostel went beyond my expectations, and I'd definitely recommend it to other travelers.

We stayed as a family of 4 the rooms were emaculately clean, the beds were beautiful and very generous sizing, local milk in beauitful glass bottles connecting the local rural communiy was a great touch.All appliances were new and whisper quiet, which meant we all slept very well. Glenys gave us plenty of advice on where to take the children, local hot pools were a hit and the domain next door with playground gardens and basket ball courts for free family fun, the exploding geyser was great entertainment, very handy location to all the walking tracks up mt Te aroha, supermarket and shops easy walking distance from motel. The service was second to none. Rod and Glenys were amazing hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we all had the best stay. We had car trouble, and they opened their garage and time to help us get back on the road forever grateful.Truely, beautiful caring people. We will be back again soon and have told all our friends and family of our new favorite motel

Die Lage ist super – mitten in der Stadt, ideal für Ausflüge und alles, was man braucht, in unmittelbarer Nähe. Das Zimmer war geräumig und blieb auch im Winter angenehm warm. Handtücher, Badezimmerartikel sowie Tee und Milch waren vorhanden.

Well clean and comfortable one-bedroom for one night. They also provide a small bottle of milk for coffee and some cookies in the room.

Très pratique, propre et confortable. Mention spéciale à la douche : d’habitude je ne suis pas fan des pommeaux fixés au mur, mais le débit était tellement généreux et la température tellement réglable facilement et rapidement que cette douche a été en tout point plus que parfaite près une rando mouillée sur le Tongariro Alpine Crossing! Quel bonheur que cette géniale douche chaude et forte !

When l arrived at the Motel l found out that when l was doing the booking l should have taken note that there is no reception on site.When l rang the purported site the call was not a friendly one.I took an uber to collect the keys .And soon as l opened the door to my room which was room 9 l was discombobulated.It appeared no house keeping had been done prior to my moving in.The bins were all full of rubbish.The bedding had not been changed .Two McDonald’s empty drinks by the sink area.Two cups and a spoon in the sink see photos.I was then moved to room 7 which appeared to be clean but that inconvenience made me enraged😡

Ein kleines Motel hat grundlegende Ausstattung. Ich wusste nicht, dass es eine Gemeindeküche gibt, bis wir weg sind. Es ist ein guter Stop über den Punkt, aber die meisten der Stadt schließen entweder früh oder hat lange Wochenenden, so stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie Vorauslieferungen haben. Als wir dort angekommen waren, gab es keine Rezeption, hatte eine Nummer und Person zu rufen, der Eingang ist ein wenig schwierig ”um den Rücken” ...yep das ist genau das, was es ist.

Hygate Motel offers a quiet and clean environment that made for a comfortable stay. The room was spacious and well-maintained, with all the basic amenities conveniently provided. The bed was especially comfortable, and the location was close to shops and cafes. There was also ample parking space, which made everything more convenient. Overall, a highly satisfying experience for the price.

Seicht von diesem kleinen Inn beeindruckt: geräumiges Wohnzimmer; schöne Aussicht auf den See (Zimmer 15); Badezimmer mit Heizungsschrank; gut ausgestattete Küche mit Kocheinrichtungen, Platten, Küchenschranken und sogar Salz und Pfeffer; ein Balkon an jedem Schlafzimmer befestigt; Zwei Fernsehsender. Ein- und Auscheck waren reibungslos und dauerte weniger als eine Minute, ohne Fragen gestellt. Besser als viele 5-Sterne-Hotels in Bezug auf die Einrichtungen und den Raum man bekommt. Mögliche Verbesserungen: Spider-Webs können aus den Balkonen entfernt werden; ein Netz kann installiert werden, so dass Insekten nicht ins Gesicht brechen, wenn Türen oder Windows geöffnet werden.
