"The Grand is in the middle of an extensive refurbishment programme. I booked 4 room for 2 nights on each side of my daughter's graduation - which I explained to the hotel in advance, so we could have rooms close together to help with hairdressing etc. First the good - beautiful building with stunning original features within a contemporary refurbishment. Stunning public areas, easy parking (albeit the car park is v tatty). The BEST service staff - accommodated all our requests, gave my daughters free parking as a gift. Everyone was delightful, helpful and effective. The bar was superb, superb service and drinks. Breakfast was gorgeous - huge variety with quality ingredients, beautifully presented. The rooms were simple yet luxurious. V nicely appointed bathrooms, comfy bed, lovely shower products. The bad - two of us had to change rooms due to ineffective / not working aircon. Unfortunately, my room was worst with heat topping 33 degrees, even hotter when the hairdresser arrived. I GOT NO SLEEP due to the heat. My friend had already had her room changed before she arrived due to a maintenance issue but her new room had no aircon at all - worth knowing that 4 stars does not mean aircon in all rooms (only 50%) have it. After having to back up we were allocated new rooms. My friend's room was an upgraded one. Mine was not, but the aircon worked to a nearly acceptable level. That said, nothing close to the ”fridge” temperature my daughter / boyfriend and her brother, enjoyed. I spoke to the manager after breakfast as I checked out. He too was charming and completely accepted my complaint. In essence, the ”build” is still happening and he is reporting the snagging issues. Given dinestiv builds can be a nightmare, he did my sympathy as he is trying to coordinate this, much larger build, with people getting in the way. I would love to revisit in 6mths or so - as so much of what they are doing is fantastic - its just quite there yet...but it will be fabulous!"

"Great location 5 minutes walk from train station and city centre. One of very few places that allows pets to stay. There is an extra £10 charge per night for but well worth it if you need to have your pet with you. Rooms are clean and functional. Well designed bathroom space with a good sized shower cubicle. There’s also a good heating/cooling system that works great."

"Walls and doors are not sound proof. It gets noisy as people talk and walk in the corridor. Squeaky noise from the floor both inside and outside the room."

"Located next to a railway station, the hotel offers basic amenities for your stay. The room was cleaned but the carpet in the lift area and the corridor gave a stinky smell. Breakfast was good many vegetarian options as well."

"I’ve stayed here three times. It’s a relatively new hotel in Leicester, but the room has many annoying faults. I could never connect my laptop to the hotel Wi-Fi on all three trips, so I had to use my phone hotspot for work. The AC, fridge and bathroom fan make loud noise — the fridge is the worst, I had to pull its plug to quiet it down. Everything else in the room works normally."

"I had a pleasant stay at this hotel overall. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and transport options. The room was clean and comfortable, and the bed provided a good night’s rest. The staff were polite and helpful throughout my stay, responding promptly to any requests. Check-in and check-out processes were smooth and efficient. While most aspects met expectations, there is still room for improvement in certain areas, such as [service/amenities/breakfast variety — you can adjust this part if needed]. Overall, it was a comfortable and satisfactory experience, and I would consider staying here again."

"Ich hatte keinen Aufenthalt. Ich war sehr enttäuscht über die Zimmerzuweisung. Mein Zimmer war im zweiten Stock, während meine Töchter im siebten Stock waren, obwohl wir zusammen gebucht haben. Das machte es für meine Tochter zu bereiten, für ihre Absolventschaft stressig und Zeitverbrauchend. Ich bat auch um zwei Betten, als ich die Buchung machte, aber diese Anfrage wurde nicht gewürdigt. Leider fand ich das Personal nicht hilfreich, als ich diese Fragen aufwuchs. Insgesamt erfüllte die Erfahrung meine Erwartungen nicht"
