We went with my cousin family to this hotel, and we enjoyed its overall atmosphere, design, and comfort. The room size is around 32sqm which is considered very comfortable for 3 people staying in the room. It is considered a new hotel, and it is well located in the heart of Karuizawa town.

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and two children during a two-night trip to Karuizawa in early February. The hotel is around 100 years old and its claim to fame is that John Lennon has stayed there. The piano that he played on is still in the bar. Location: The hotel is near Old Ginza Street and around a 15-minutes drive from Karuizawa station. It was not difficult to find, but you must navigate a narrow approach to the hotel which is icy at this time of the year, so you must drive carefully. Cleaniness: The staff told me that the hotel was only recently and everything was very clean and in good condition. Service: The receptionist that conducted the check-in was probably the Japanese that spoke the best English that I had encountered on this trip. He spent a lot of time explaining the hotel to our family. The porter was also very helpful and polite. When we asked for extra toothbrushes and slippers for the children, housekeeping was very prompt in delivering them and even brought some children's robes for my sons. Facilities: The hotel did not have many facilities. There is a small shop, a bar and a french restaurant but not much else. Some rooms had private hot springs in them and they gave us the opportunity to upgrade. Our room, had a small balcony even though we were on the ground floor. It looked onto a wooded area so there was not much to see, especially at night. However, when it snowed the next morning, my kids loved going out and playing in the snow. I was particularly impressed by the breakfast. It was a simple American breakfast very well presented. It was very pleasurable to look out into the inner courtyard with it was snowing. Overall: I like this hotel as it has a lot of character. It is architecturally attractive and has kept a lot of its charm despite renovation. The staff are very professional and polite. I would stay in this hotel again.

We spent 2 nights in Prince after first 2 nights in Kusatsu onsen town. The hotel looked underwhelming on arrival and the front office service was efficient but cursory compared to the warm hospitality we had in the ryokan stay. It was low season and hotel was very quiet and had a ”cold” atmosphere. I was further disappointed when we were shown our room which was on the lowest floor with a simple garden view. On requesting the check-in staff for a change of room on higher floor and a more scenic view, I was told there is an upgrade charge, which I accepted. The new room was the same size and configuration but on a higher floor with a nice view of Mt Asama. While I was happy to pay the fee, I can't help but compare their practice with all the hotels that I have stayed in all these years, where room changes were complimentary so long as the room type remains the same. Nevertheless, the hotel's facilities delighted me immensely and I enjoyed the overall experience. The highlight of the hotel stay was the fantastic view of Asama in a high ceiling dining room with full glass window. We were able to have different table seatings for both morning breakfast as the hotel occupancy was low, which gave us different perspectives of the scenery. The other highlight of the hotel is the onsen facility which is located in a separate building on higher ground, accessible via a self service automated tram. Aside from Asama view in the outdoor onsens, there is a common lounge which has equally awesome view of Asama. We enjoyed our time soaking in onsen and resting in the lounge. Was I would go back to Prince Asama and experience the scenery during a different season!

Stayed late June to see the stunning Itawake view. No skiing, just soaking in Hakuba’s nature. Hotel was peaceful, surrounded by trees — perfect for relaxing walks. Staff were friendly and super helpful. Room was clean, a bit small for what we booked. Breakfast was okay, mix of Japanese and Western. The onsen was the real highlight — so refreshing after a day out. Even without snow, Mominoki was a great base. Cozy, quiet, and welcoming. Would stay again.

Bezüglich der Reaktion an der Rezeption Erstens kam ich nachts an und die Atmosphäre und die Reaktion des Personals an der Rezeption waren nicht sehr gut. Beim Gepäck gab es keine Hilfe, sodass ich selbst den Wagen am Eingang benutzen musste. Über Annehmlichkeiten Das war sehr erfüllend. Im Raum neben dem Aufzug standen Annehmlichkeiten zur Verfügung, sodass ich alles mitbringen konnte, was ich brauchte. Eine Sache, die ich hervorheben möchte, ist die Holzzahnbürste. Ich war beeindruckt, wie angenehm es zu verwenden war und wie es sich in meinem Mund anfühlte, was es zu einem wunderbaren Produkt machte. Über das Zimmer Das Zimmer war groß, aber es wurde viel Platz verschwendet und es fühlte sich insgesamt sehr feucht an. Der Boden war mit Teppich ausgelegt, aber er war so feucht, dass ich mich ohne Hausschuhe unwohl fühlte. Das Bett war bequem, aber ich machte mir auch Sorgen wegen der Luftfeuchtigkeit. Über die Zimmerreinigung Diesmal blieb ich drei aufeinanderfolgende Nächte, aber das Zimmer wurde nicht gereinigt und Badetücher, Handtücher, Toilettenpapier, Yukata usw. wurden vor der Tür zurückgelassen. Ich denke, sie können es für Sie reinigen, wenn Sie danach fragen. Über heiße Quellen Es gab eine heiße Quelle im 3. Stock und es war wunderbar. Es gab ein Innenbad und ein Außenbad, aber das Außenbad war besonders schön. Das gesamte Badezimmer war sauber, mit der Sekkisei-Serie ausgestattet und verfügte über jede Menge Annehmlichkeiten. Über den Wäscheservice Es gab eine Waschmaschine und einen Trockner, Waschmittel wurde kostenlos zur Verfügung gestellt und war einfach zu bedienen. Über Parkplatz Ich war sehr froh, dass es kostenlos verfügbar war. Es liegt 5 Autominuten vom Autobahnkreuz Nagano entfernt und ist meiner Meinung nach ein sehr praktischer Standort für diejenigen, die es als Basis nutzen und mit dem Auto anreisen.

Ein wunderschönes Hotel mitten in Hakuba. Die Lage ist etwas abgelegen, und ohne Auto ist es etwas mühsam, in die Stadt oder die Umgebung zu gelangen. Wir haben es aber sehr genossen, im Hotel zu entspannen. Wir hatten Halbpension gebucht (Abendessen inklusive). Super praktisch, da sich der Skiverleih direkt im Hotel befindet und Shuttlebusse zu den Skigebieten angeboten werden. Onsen: Frisch renoviert und fantastisch! Frühstück und Abendessen: Wir waren vom Abendessen positiv überrascht – es war ein 6-Gänge-Menü mit japanisch-französischen Einflüssen. Wir haben jeden Abend hervorragend gegessen. Hoteleigener Skiverleih: Es ist gut, dass es einen im Hotel gibt. Der Service war jedoch verbesserungswürdig. Ich habe ein Snowboard gemietet und nach einem Regular-Stance-Setup gefragt. Der junge Mann hat mir aber ein Goofy-Stance-Setup gegeben. Das ist mir erst am nächsten Tag aufgefallen, nachdem ich das Board zurückgebracht hatte – und derselbe junge Mann war nicht mehr im Verleih. Ich wandte mich an den Concierge, dessen Mitarbeiter das Problem dann sehr ungeduldig und frustrierend für mich lösten. Transport zum Skigebiet: Ich bat die Mitarbeiter, uns ein Taxi zum Bahnhof Nagano für unsere Abreise am nächsten Tag zu buchen. Das hoteleigene Taxiunternehmen war ausgebucht, daher konnten sie nichts tun. Wir fragten nach Alternativen. Der Concierge schlug einen Shuttlebus zum Bahnhof Nagano vor, sagte aber kurz darauf, dass dies nicht möglich sei, da der Hotelshuttle nicht so früh fahre. Die Mitarbeiter wirkten wenig hilfsbereit und schienen auch nicht genau zu wissen, wie Gäste das Hotel verlassen. Mein Tipp für zukünftige Reisende: Planen Sie im Voraus – buchen Sie Taxi/Bus im Voraus und verlassen Sie sich nicht auf die Hilfe des Hotels.

Hotel Marroad is just a few minutes by the shuttle bus from the station , and it can also be reached on foot. We booked a room for 4 people and the room size is good at a very reasonable price (include breakfast). The fixtures are a bit old. However, the room and the amenities are very clean. We come to skiing and the hotel has a rental service (much cheaper than you rent at the ski field) which is very convenient. Also, they send us to ski field every day. Staff can speak little English, but they are all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious, and it is a must try.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this resort. From the moment I arrived, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth and professionalism, making me feel instantly at home. The property itself is beautifully maintained, with stunning views and thoughtful touches that create a relaxing atmosphere. Every detail—from the comfortable rooms to the delicious dining options—was carefully curated to ensure a memorable experience. I was especially impressed by how impeccably clean everything was, including the public bathrooms and hot spring area. The staff cleaned up immediately after use, which made the whole environment feel fresh and cared for. I truly appreciate the team’s dedication to hospitality and excellence, and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a perfect getaway. We are deeply grateful for the extraordinary care shown by the hotel assistant Akemi during our stay. When we were unexpectedly stuck in the snow in a remote area, she walked alone to find us and kindly offered assistance to call for tow truck support. She then guided us safely back to the hotel, even though we had already checked out, and welcomed us with tea and biscuits to keep us warm while we waited. Her thoughtfulness and dedication went far beyond duty, and her kindness turned a stressful situation into a touching memory. Thank you sincerely for such genuine hospitality—it is something we will never forget.

Die Lage ist gut, der Service ist gut, das Zimmer ist sauber und das Hotelfrühstück kostet 1.700 Yen. Es gibt kein besseres Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Das nächste Mal werde ich das Sushi-Restaurant des Hotels und die chinesische Küche probieren

Das Essen, die Zimmer und der Service sind großartig und die Lage ist auch sehr gut. Unten gibt es viele Restaurants und es gibt heiße Quellen im Freien, die mit dem Auto erreichbar sind. Ein kostenloser Shuttleservice zum Bahnhof ist ebenfalls verfügbar.
